Upper Brewers - Lock 44

Best camping site I have ever had.

We loved it. The place, the facility, everything. The tent was clean and spacious. It had all the facilities one would expect. They had kayaks/canoe and safety gear in place for you to access easily. There was a large tenant only toilet with keys for us which was spacious and clean as well. The ice machine was not accessible though, which was not a big deal for us. The BBQ machine was enough for our needs. The locks had traffic during the day which was fun to watch while relaxing. Really enjoyed it.

Great location, quiet, with nice views. Only downside is that the washrooms aren't the cleanest - Parks Canada could put more effort into ensuring that the washrooms are cleaned regularly (lots of dead bugs and probably haven't been mopped in a while). Also, the firewood they sell is garbage - wet and more rot than wood. Water is from a sulphur well so don't be surprised (mild rotten egg smell).

Beautiful, park like setting. Picnic tables and lovely lawns. Fun to watch the locks in operation during the summer. And a pleasant place for a stroll year round.

Very nice spot. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We rented an oTENTik, which is basically a heavy-duty tent supported by a permanent wood frame with a vinyl floor. No hydro or running water. Lots of room to sleep 6 adults (we were only 2). Did some amazing kayaking down to the Lower Brewers Mill lock station and even went through the locks in our kayaks which was very interesting. Saw a lot of different wildlife and thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights there. Only downside - I picked up some poison ivy / poison oak or something similar. The only spot I can imagine that happening is walking into the water through the longer vegetation by the oTENTik.

This is a wonderfully restful place to visit especially in the fall when there is less boat traffic through the locks. You can go for the day for a picnic or rent one of 2 oTENTiks (tent/cabin) that come with BBQ, canoe and fire pit. The is free parking and indoor toilets with shower facilities.

We had an absolutely awesome experience here that far exceeded our expectations. We plan on returning soon. The Otentik was clean and very well maintained, the staff were outstanding and the area is absolutely beautiful. We loved canoeing up and down the river and checking out the scenery.

Very cool place for fishing, saw this guy catch a footer. Water is bit unclear, picturesque view of small fishes on the top surface of water. Fortunately saw a turtle stuck between the lock gates, officials opened the gate to free the turtle.
