Did a soft CD release event here. Although Celtic/folk music is not what is typically performed in this venue, the staff - and even the locals - were quite welcoming and appreciative! As a percussionist, I appreciated the cymbal backdrop of the stage for sure. Super fun night it was!

If you're looking for a true dive bar with live music but also nice staff, Vern's is your place! I've been here only once to support a friend's band. A few good options on tap and definitely a unique vibe. Dive bars aren't usually my scene but if I happen to know another band playing, I'll definitely stop in!FYI: Vern's is cash only. They do have an ATM machine, though.

This place sucks. It feels like a high school cafeteria . I was sitting at the bar and one of the staff who was a patron was watching me intently as I collected my change. Told me to tip the bartender.Get a life and mind your own business. I didn't know tipping was a requirement. I tip before I leave, not on every beer I order. They get a better tip if they did a good job. It is a service industry lol.Also they don't take card. Even developing countries accept credit at their establishments.Place is total bush league .

Okay...hear me out. I would not eat there but the drinks are reasonably priced and the place has live misic. The fact that it is like stepping back into a 70s hippy basement totally adds to the ambiance. If you're looking for a quiet classy place, don't go to Vern's. If you want some good fun with an elclectic crowd, Vern's is the place for you.

Calgary's version of CBGB's. Sure, it looks a little rough, but it's got it where it counts; amazing staff, awesome atmosphere, cheap beers. Clint is a saint for what he has done for music in this city. Drop into Vern's and say hi sometime! Just don't mind the busted toilets.

This was my first visit there. Attended a metal show with local bands from Alberta....Shout out to my buddy's band Hive" And "Krash".... You guys ROCKED! All the walls in Vern's place is covered in Band stickers from EVERYWHERE!!....It was definitely a party place!"
