Yui Japanese Bistro

Update: the staff helped investigate the incident and gave me a very clear overview of what occurred. I respect it when things are rectified for the better. I will be a loyal patron here as they deserve it.I found a thin rope in my chashu and found hair in my chicken karaage in the exact same order!I discovered this place a couple weeks back and ordered from it over five times since it seemed so good and that I wanted to support a local business during these times. I'm thoroughly disappointed that my new favourite restaurant (now former) would have these types of standards. I only discovered these two transgressions because I felt something unchewable in my mouth! God knows what else I ended up eating without noticing. I think I should take a break from here for the time being until they rectify this issue.

Amazing vegan oshi sushi! We had the vegan queen and they were incredible. Fresh, full of flavour, and by far my favorite sushi I’ve had since going vegan. I feel like it’s finally something that could attract meat eaters to try a vegan item. The vegan ramen is also very good. Rich in flavour and fresh veggies and toppings.

You need to come try this place, if you like sushi, try it. I feel like I should have been charged more for the level of freshness and taste. It was amazing.But now let's dig in.It's a small joint, hard to find actually we walked past it and went down the street. When we got inside it's understated. The decor doesn't take away from the food but it doesn't add to the experience either. Granted I did not sit at the bar, and I think I will next time.They are new and there were a lot of us for the small staff to handle, so I hope that's the reason the food took a while.But it was worth it because...The food is amazing, I didn't even think you can make miso soup that good. Edamame was a good consistency. Spicy tuna is really good. .Yui plate is a must try! Aburi Tuna is so damn good as is the salmon oshi. Each bite of the sushi here feels right.If you are going to buy anything get a Yui plate, nice mix of stuff.I am definitely going to come back.

Tiny little cute restaurant with minimal seating, so not ideal for large groups. Expect a wait when arriving around lunch time. They're only open until 3 then closed and reopen for dinner around 5 I believe. Everything is super fresh. Tastes almost like miku, without making your wallet or bank account cry! Would definitely recommend this place to others!

Came here for lunch for the first time - great quality and delicious! Recommended! We ordered the Saba OSHI, Salmon Oshi, and Hawaiian Poke Bowl

The food here is exceptional. My friend brought me here because she loves it, I’m not sure I would have ended up here otherwise but I’m so glad I did. I’ll be thinking about that salmon for a long time. I already can’t wait to go back.This sushi is unlike anything I’ve had in Vancouver before. You have to try it!

Really good sushi and aburi sushi though not a great variety of sushi options and availability. The place is nice and the service is good though it is a small place so it might be difficult to get a spot if you’re going in a big group or at peak hours. I’d say it’s worth a try if you’re in downtown. Sushi quality is good just wish they had a more extensive selection to choose from.

Greatest Japanese catering experience ever! Definitely had a blast with my friends and everyone enjoyed it. Foods are fresh and yummy, nomom! Thank you Chef Reg for the service. Looking forward to have Yui for another event soon! 100% Recommended.
