The Crack
The hike lived up to the hype. It can get busy but I left the highway parking lot at 9am and it took just over an hour of steady hiking to get to the top, but I had it all to myself which was amazing! Passed a lot more people on the way back down so start early, or maybe late if you want a real wilderness feel. The first and last 30mins (it's an out and back trail) are somewhat uninspiring, but push through it's worth it. I would say the scramble up The Crack" at the end is not difficult

One of the best hike !! We have heard it was very hard, but it is easily doable (even with our small dog). The scramble up the rocks was actually lots of fun !

Very unique and fun trail with a variety of things to see, it’s the most challenging trail I’ve ever been to. The last climbing part looks very scary, but once you start to climb it’s alright. Top view worth it. It took us 4.5h in total including rest 25min at the top. The way back is a lot faster. Hiking shoes and lots of water is a must. A smaller dog like ours(10lb) needs to be carried at some steep spot, bing extra water for your dog too.

The trail starts out like your typical in-city park pathway but progressively gets more difficult as you continue. You begin to work your way uphill and soon over rocky terrain to the crack" where you must scale your way up a pile of boulders. The climax at the top being completely worth it! The views are breathtaking and the sense of accomplishment of overcoming the terrain gives you a nice little euphoric high. I will definitely be making this a regular activity when I visit the region."

The Crack
One of the most interesting hiking trails I have ever been to. There is about an hour walk to the entrance of the Crack and another hour to the top of the hills. I had my running shoes but I wished I brought my hiking shoes. Make sure to bring lots of water and snacks. It took us around 4 hours in total. We didn't see any bears there but the scenery was breathtaking.

Great trail! The parks estimates about 4-4.5 hrs of hiking and 6 KM total trail distance. However, due to the some new detour trails, the total distance is more around 9 KM, which can easily be done in about 3 hours. As others mentioned, the initial part of the trail is very easy with a wide trail, which progressively gets harder and harder. For those interested in flora, make sure to check the forest section for some very interesting plants and colorful mushrooms. There are sections with some fairly difficult rocks and boulders that require your entire body to be free to climb. The white quartzite rocks of the Canadian Shield is sure to take your breath away as you make your way to the top. Hiking boots are highly recommended. In the end, the view is definitely worth the sweat. On a clear day, you can see Georgian Bay and a few islands including Manitoulin Island in the distance.I have seen a few groups with their larger dogs having difficulties climbing and slipping down the rocks and in between. I have also seen a few mothers with new born babies in their arms, which just seemed like a very very dangerous thing to do. It was a difficult sight to see although they all reached the top safely.

LOVE this trail, I try to go at least twice a year sometimes all four seasons if it’s a good year. Give yourself enough time to do the hike, on the way up it is always a little bit harder than on the way down. You could do this hike within two hours, but budget for at least three. Epic views along the way. Follow the trail signs and don’t get lost. Not an easy hike but slow and steady you can get you through it no problem.

Checked out The Crack during our visit at Killarney Provincial Park and it was super worth it. The initial hike in from the parking lot wasn’t difficult but towards the top of trail it got slightly difficult. You’ll have to navigate over rocks and boulders to finally get to the top. But it was very worth it.We had our dog with us and had to carry him on some parts of the trail because the rocks were slippery and sharp in some sections of the trail
