Spirit Halloween

The store was great but the staff literally followed me around for no reason (possibly to do with the fact I am a black female and majority of the workers were white). as I was leaving I was approached by a lady asking where I had put a costume I was looking at because “another customer was interested in it” and when i said I wasn’t sure she continued to follow me to checkout.I’m usually not one to bring up race when I experience situations like these but in this case there was almost no other explanation. I was simply walking around the store as one does looking at items. I wasn’t dressed sketchy or touching everything or even looking around. These workers saw me walk in and decided I was “suspicious” enough that they needed 5 employees to follow me around..overall I’m extremely disappointed and upset because this is USUALLY one of my favourite stores.

An excellent place to get your family's Halloween costume for 2021. Even though your neighbourhood might be a ghost town.

this was my first time shopping at spirit halloween, the store itself was amazing but unfortunately my friends and i had a horrible interaction with one of the employees. from the get-go as we walked in, we could tell that the employees were lowkey following us around but we didn’t think too much of it. then as we were looking at some of the merchandise near the checkout area, an employee walks up to my friends and i and asks “where is the black hoodie that you guys stole?” and obviously we were very confused because we didn’t steal anything from the store. we tell her nicely that we had no idea what she was talking about but she claimed that there was “camera proof” and she would go and rewind the footage and show us. my friends and i just kinda stood there in shock and we brushed it off and kept looking around at stuff in the store and after sometime we decided to cash out and as we finished, we asked the employee that accused us if she found the footage but she just didn’t say anything and kept looking at her phone.we asked her TWICE but she kept silent, obviously she was embarrassed because she was wrong, but we paid for our items and left.the employee was a black lady (mixed maybe, she was lightskin with long black curly/wavy hair) and my friends and i are black, brown and native american. this could’ve been an act of racism or she is maybe just an ignorant employee, but don’t go around accusing innocent shoppers of stealing lmao .

I've been to this place many timesI did like it so much I wanted to work there for the seasonal shift but when I tried to apply online the internet said we couldn't find anythingThe next thing was the costumes were very good quality but very expensive this store has to be for the very expensive and loving Halloween fansNext thing I also don't like what they have in their make up like who puts ammonia and centric acid in it that is weird they say to test a small piece of skin before applying it to the face or body and why does their Halloween blood stains fabrics cannot they just find something that washes out?And lastly I know more than anyone working in the store so if people ask hey where is this I'd find it for them cuz I know better then the employees that work there!

The worst place to buy the manager there who was standing there and I don’t know whether she was manager or she was lying.She has given the worst customer service.She talk us soo rudely, she has given same product to other person for $9.99 and given us for $12.99.She was shouting on us badly just discriminating us.Well that’s the worst experience I had in 4 years being in Canada.

Went in on a Wednesday evening, it wasn't so busy at the time we entered. One staff member continuously followed my friend and I. Every time we moved on to another section, he followed and kept circling around us. Never once he did approach us to say hi or ask if we needed help. He made eye contact often and would look into our basket because we had a Lululemon bag as well as products tucked BESIDE THE LULULEMON BAG in the basket. It was obvious he was keeping an eye out in case we were attempting to steal. The whole experience was quite uncomfortable as we both used to work at Party City and knew what the protocol was to prevent theft. We expressed this to the manager and in return she explained how the store is trying to reduce the high theft rate. Which is understandable but please TRAIN your staff to be A LITTLE more subtle and perhaps engage in conversation with customers rather than silently follow people around??? Not to mention he didn't bother to do this to anyone else and only stopped following us when we were in line to cash out. Rather than focusing on preventing theft perhaps staff should direct their attention to providing a good shopping experience for customers. You won't have to worry about theft if this keeps up no one is going to shop at Spirit Halloween. Do better guys.

Childrens costumes didn't have much selection.Also, after slipping a costume on my child to make sure I would be able to fit extra clothes on underneath we were rudely approached by a female employee who said you can't be trying on costumes for safety reasons" I said there's no signs any where in the store stating this and my child still has clothes on underneath. Again she rudely said that we need to do it at home and return it if it doesn't fit. Perhaps spirit wants to pay for my gas? The experience at this store was awful. No one even attempted to help us but had no problem telling us we couldn't try on costumes. Honestly

Amazing location, they have a really good collection. You can find almost anything you’re looking for. If you can’t even find the outfit you’ve imagined, you’ll find most of the pieces to make your DIY outfits.They are super helpful, would try their best to find you anything you want. We bothered them so much, but they helped us to the end. Frank specially was really amazing!
