Okanagan Montessori Elementary Preschool & Daycare

A great school, preschool and daycare. Very professional and respectful to the children, families and each other. The staff provide a good learning environment and have great communications between the families and one another. I appreciate the teaching methods and values they use to build creativity, motivation and confidence in their students. I would definitely recommend this Okanagan Montessori to parents looking for professional and caring place to take your children.

Very unprofessional staff. Rude from the start. I picked up my son (2 years old) one day, the weather was 1 degree. I had dropped him off that morning wearing a toque. When I picked him up he was in a hat and his ears were red and cold! I made a short video in my vehicle of the complaint. It was posted to my personal FB page. There was no mention of the daycare in the video or any tags about the daycare. They somehow seen it, kicked my son out of daycare. No warnings, no conversation and no professionalism. Warning to other parents, do not make a simple complaint or they will send lawyers after you. My son was then sick for a week after probably due to being underdressed at that daycare.

PARENTS BEWARE!If I could give negative stars I would, and it is unfortunate this is the case as there are precious few places where children in the Okanagan can have a Montessori education. To be fair, at one time, they had a couple stellar humans in their employ and when we first started there we felt quite highly about the place, but those few good ones have moved on and everything went downhill. The remaining staff are untrained in any sort of de-escalation tactics for little ones, which as daycare/preschool caregivers they should be well versed in. They cannot handle any sort of confrontation with children or parents. Staff are unprofessional, severely lacking in any communication skills and are incredibly disorganized as a result. The program is also completely under stimulating for bright children.The staffing changes and subsequent changes to classroom organization, resulted in an immediate shift in our child’s behaviour from I love my school" to "none of my teachers like me

Okanagan Montessori is a wonderful school with phenomenal teachers, programs and grounds. We were very lucky for our older son to go to this school when we moved to Kelowna and he absolutely loved the preschool/daycare. The skills he learnt form a strong foundation for his education going forward. We have lots of great memories and friends from the school and are really hopeful my younger son can be part of the Okanagan Montessori family at the end of our parental leave. Highly recommend!

We have been attending this Centre since July and our daughter has never been in a more safe, secure and attentive environment. Our child has been in the Infant Toddler program and has been so well cared for. The three teachers in the program have been consistent and professional. My child has had her share of transitions from moving to a new home, potty training and additional developmentally appropriate toddler behaviours. The staff have always openly communicated about any behaviours or illnesses in the centre and have been incredible with their cleaning. My child goes outside and does various activities in the summer and colder weather. At pick up yesterday she was well dressed for our incoming first snow fall of the year along with the other children that were still in care.I appreciate the caregivers open communication, knowledge and professionalism at this centre. My daughter is incredibly well cared for and I am truly grateful for her experience at Okanagan Montessori.

I have worked here for over 5 years and absolutely love the environment, staff members, and overall community.The members of the board really treat you like family, care for us, and ensure our burn out is under control.The classrooms have a very low teacher to child ratio, which is wonderful for both the children and the teachers. The children really seem to thrive in the montessori environment and I look forward to growing and expanding with Okanagan Montessori!100% recommend to any family who is looking for a great, small community to be apart of and to be treated like family.

We absolutely love the Okanagan Montessori School, everything about it! Switched from the Waldorf in grade one for our son and definitely didn't wish to continue with the public system after kindergarten! We were very happy with the 3 hour uninterrupted blocks of time for education, , the devotion of the teachers and Directress, the intermingling of age groups, the method of teaching, and the various activities the kids did regularly both at and away from the school. Our kids went on to become nurse and engineer and I attribute that without doubt to their early years at this great little school! Highly recommend this to any parent wanting to ensure their children get a great relevant education and who can also fit into any environment.

Okanagan Montessori was our oasis in the busy Kelowna area. For 11 years we appreciated the peaceful setting and the flexible program and staff who worked with our family to ensure that our needs were being met. Our girls went on to be successful in their later public school years. Trust the process and let you child forge their own pathway has been our motto for years and it has worked! I highly recommend Okanagan Montessori Elementary Preschool and Daycare!

We were extremely happy in this daycare for 2 years. My boy got potty trained, had amazing regular naps, had a huge breakthrough in coloring and writing. The atmosphere is very friendly and happy. Teachers are very calm, happy and professional and incredibly good and dealing with little ones. Highly recommend this daycare!

We LOVE the Montessori, we’ve had nothing but amazing experiences with all the teachers at Okanagan Montessori for the last 3 years we’ve been there. Great communication between teachers and parents. Our daughter comes home excited to tell us about her day. We appreciate the Montessori values and the respect each teacher has for families. I recommended the Okanagan Montessori to every family who is either looking for an infant/toddler program, daycare program and preschool, as we have been lucky enough to be in all three!
