Craig Johnston Design Conslnt

I met and had Mr. Johnston around 2011 to provide me my dream home design which was used in Our Home Magazine" years ago. Currently working again with him because of his expertise in the field and designing for my new projects."

When we searched for a designer to build our home we came across Craig Johnston Design in Owen Sound. Upon speaking with Craig he seemed nice enough and was confident on doing our designs. Boy were we ever WRONG! It took several months to even complete the design. Excuse after excuse of why things were not being completed and so on. To have minor/simple changes made took weeks. When we finally got the designs we were so glad to just get rid of this guy. Our REAL problems were only beginning. There are so many mistakes on the plans including windows and major structural issues with our stairs, library, and second story. It appears he just put things wherever without taking into account structurally if it can even work. He does not return calls even to the building department and your truss and floor design companies. Recently we have spoken with other builders and clients of his that have all had the same experiences. This guy should not be allowed to do any kind of design work. It is so bad that builders have said that if his stamp is on drawings they wouldn't even take the work. Not one person has had anything good to say about his workmanship and I want others like us, to know about our experience as we had no clue!

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS PERSON. He is the most unprofessional business person I have ever dealt with. He lies constantly, makes excuses, and does not return calls or emails. We met in March/22 and he promised my drawings in 1 week. As time went by I kept following up but to no avail, or my drawings. After a few months he said he had Covid and that was his excuse. Then in June he said again he had been sick but assured me I would have my drawings in a few days. Now it is August 16 and I still have nothing, while he does not return any form of contact. Meanwhile my property keeps leaking and causing more damage as I cannot get a contractor to fix the problem without my drawings. Overall the most frustrating experience of my life. Does not even deserve the 1 star I had to give him to post this.
