Gabrieau's Bistro
Very nice menu. Well-prepared appetizers and mains. Nice wines by the glass. Skilled service. Small off street parking lot. No loud techno rap music interfered with conversation! One of the nicer dining experiences we had in twelve days of travel in the Maritimes and in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. We were thankful that the menu wasn't the usual fried and battered this and that frozen seafood....

First they were very accommodating by allowing my dog on the patio. The server brought water out for her and engaged my pup in an extremely way. The food was fantastic with prices reflecting the quality. My daughter doesn't like any sauce on her calamari and was upset when it came with sauce drizzled on her food. The server was quick to volunteer a new batch without us asking.Overall, the service was next level and the food was top quality. I highly recommend a stop here.

This was exceptionally good. Words do not capture the visual and taste experience. First: fresh local oysters (Black Point I think) could not have been fresher, plumper or more full of flavour. Served with lemon and a homemade spicy red sauce - fantastic! Then: seafood chowder- with a puff pastry on top? Extraordinary! Rich, light, crispy dome covering a hearty chowder, properly seasoned, lightly peppered with chunky salt, what a treat for eyes and taste buds. Next: crab cakes - impossibly well prepared: dark brown on the outside but where’s the oil? They could not have drained the crabs cakes on a paper towel otherwise they would have been cold instead of piping hot - a mystery. Then you bust thru that dark brown crust and inside, a rich crabby interior (there must be some filling, maybe panko or egg, but you can’t tell, all I tasted was endless crab). And a sauce. And a side salad. Finally fresh mussels served with a crazy rich sauce so delicate and delicious I can’t describe it properly- butter and cream of course, but tarragon? Sage? Doesn’t really matter. If you want to enjoy food, really good food, this is the place. PS - another good sign is to listen - music remains in the background where it belongs while people’s conversation and laughter creates the ambience. The service was quietly discrete and well informed; the place is cozy yet accommodating of different group sizes. Never mind the price- if you want to treat yourself, your friends or your family, I’ll see you there.

Excellent food and service. Portions were filling and all dishes at the table looked great and tasted fantastic. Not as expensive as I expected. I definitely recommend for a top notch meal in Antigonish. Had some excellent Nova Scotia wine as well. Looking forward to coming back.

As high end a restaurant experience you can possibly have in Antigonish. The prices of some of the entrees can be intimidating, but you are paying for top tier dining when you come to Gabrieau's. The menu is robust and offers something for everyone's palate. I have to give a special shout out praising their sushi menu. Having dined in several sushi restaurants around the Maritimes, I'm willing to say that Gabrieau's has hands down the best sushi in Nova Scotia.

We needed a gluten free cake, so Mark created this incredible dessert for our daughters high school grad party. It was to die for, everyone is still talking about it. Thanks Mark + Karen for another incredible dessert!

Stopped here for lunch on the drive from Cape Breton to Halifax and it was such a treat! We tried the Lobster and Shrimp Bisque which features a hallowed out Scallop filled with shredded shrimp and lobster and it is indescribably delicious. We couldn’t help but also split the Baked Lobster and Shrimp Mac N Cheese. It was excellent, with a creamy béchamel sauce. Good Ceasars. Antigonish was cute. We recommend!
