Alyssa Huang Prenatal Postnatal Acupuncture

Alyssa has an incredibly calming presence and asks all the right questions during a session! I have seen her for my acne/digestion and for a hip injury. She offers great holistic advice to complement the benefits of her acupuncture. I highly recommend her as a practitioner.

When I first became pregnant I had considerable uncertainty about what was ahead. I experienced fluctuating emotions related to hormonal changes and news that my Dad had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. It was an overwhelming time and I'm so thankful for Alyssa's involvement. Her kind approach and clinical expertise was balanced by her awareness of pregnancy and her ability to treat accordingly. I felt supported and understood throughout the 6 months that I worked with her. My emotional and physical wellbeing improved after the first visit and this was maintained over the duration of my pregnancy.I saw Alyssa a couple of times each month to support the changes that my body was experiencing and did not have negative symptoms associated with the pregnancy. I attribute this to a proactive approach and having a support person on my health care team that was able to meet me where I was at each visit. I increased the frequency of treatments during the weeks leading up to my birth for cervical ripening in order to help prepare for labour and delivery. I had a positive birth experience delivering my son at 39 weeks and 2 days.I continued with treatments following my sons birth that were vital to my recovery as I felt refreshed and centred after each visit and my body recovered quickly. The best part was that on the occasions where I couldn't get to the clinic Alyssa came to my home. Her gentle nature and strong knowledge base has me recommending her to all of my pregnant friends and feeling confident about working with her in the future. I'm so happy I found Alyssa!

I saw Alyssa for prenatal acupuncture during my pregnancy and she exceeded my expectations with her treatments. Her practice is very holistic and she addressed much more than I ever could have expected, from head to toe. It's clearly evident that she truly cares about her patients' wellbeing and goes above and beyond to address any concerns. She also provided me with a lot of information, recommendations, and advice about pregnancy, labour, and postpartum - which was much appreciated as a first-time mum. Her guidance on acupressure points for cervical ripening and for pain management during labour were especially appreciated. Alyssa was my acupuncturist while I was doing university in Vancouver. Her treatments helped me deal with stress and burnout, as well as being able to help me get over a chronic cold I had throughout the winter months. She goes above and beyond her treatments with follow up e-mails with additional help and support, and if she had the time she would go over our scheduled time slot and allow me to fully relax. She's amazing!

From the very first appointment I was amazed by how relaxed my body and mind were after the session. Alyssa helped me with the hip pain, liquid retention and headaches during my pregnancy. Alyssa was recommended to me by my usual acupuncturist while she was away and I was so impressed with her warmth, depth of knowledge and caring spirit. She visited me in my home twice in the days just before giving birth and once afterwards and her treatments likely led to my very fast and ‘easy’ birth. Alyssa also provided me with great, personal advice for baby care and self care in the weeks following birth. I have been seeing Alyssa for a number of years now, with my last pregnancy Alyssa treated me for fertilization, pregnancy issues such as sciatica and morning sickness and prepared me for labour and eventually imduction. Her knowledge and care was some of the best I have ever had. She helps you understand the treatments and is thourough in understanding your needs. I still cannot get over how fast accupunture worked in relieving my nausea.

Alyssa is amazing. She goes way above and beyond what you would think a typical acupuncture session would be, and truly cares about providing a space of calm, healing and comfort. She helped me with everything from back pain to a recurring stye problem during my pregnancy, and I always look forward to seeing her. 10/10!
