I’ve had a few tattoos here and it’s a beautiful space! Very clean, organized, welcoming. Wanda is very kind, and makes it such a comfortable experience. I definitely recommend tattoos by Wanda for someone’s first one, or 5th or 10th or so on!

Best tattoo experience I’ve had by far, I’ve been back to see Wanda many many times and I’m always blown away by their patience and attention to detail, they take all my crazy ideas and make them a reality in their own special way! Wanda is my favourite tattoo artist! After working as a female in the piercing industry at a tattoo shop for many many years back in the early 2000's I was left with some trauma and didn't actually think I would set foot into a shop again- even though I knew I wanted more tattoos. Finding Wander + Whim was exactly what I needed. I have been tattooed by a LOT of people during my lifetime and Wanda is one I will keep going back to. The studio is immaculate, spa-like, and so welcoming. Wanda is compassionate, kind, and they make the experience a dream. The tattoo process is unlike any other I have experienced, I find it to be calming, mediative and relaxing, the best type of self care! I appreciate that Wanda has strong boundaries around what they will and will not tattoo and that they are laid out on their website very clearly- cultural appropriation is something they take very seriously- and this is important to me. Go see Wanda for your next tattoo- you won't be disappointed.

I would like to leave a review in response to Autumn Greers review.Taking the time to write a bad review about a business because you feel entitled to religious art as a white person is not only rude to the tattooer trying to protect those cultures from further damage, it's absolutely pathetic.Wander + Whim is one of the most progressive and forward-thinking spaces in Nanaimo. Wanda intentionally allows room for community, art, and learning.That includes learning about how to respect a tattooist by reading their terms and guidelines BEFORE filling out a booking form.If you are a human whose brain operates in 2023, and you're cool, queer, and love art in all forms, go see Wanda.Their art is amazing! I saw Wanda for my first tattoos ever and the experience was wonderful! The whole experience was relaxing and the environment was so calming. This really helped with my first time nerves. Wanda really creates a safe space for clients! I was so happy with the custom piece they made me and I added on a flash as well. Both have healed wonderfully and still look great after nearly two years. Thanks again!

By far one of my most dream artisans to work with. I’ve been talking with Wanda and following their work for years. I find the artwork, the vision to be one of a kind. It’s extremely difficult to find artisans that practice such a stunning artistry. I also appreciate with the vision that there is no compromise in regards to boundaries. The world needs that, and as someone who is more then 75% covered I wish I had that relationship and communication before permanently inking my body in the past. It’s a form of respect when someone chooses to ink your body and shares a vision, and if not to also tell you that is beyond the most respectful thing someone can do. It’s on you for ever and is a true ritual of sorts to go through the experience of getting tattooed, as well as someone designing a piece you will adorn your body with. I can’t wait for the day I can find a way out to see Wanda to get my hands and neck work done. My last and most important spaces for work to be done.

From the time you take that first step to inquire about a tattoo to the end of the session, Wanda makes you feel relaxed, welcomed, included, , calm, and well taken care of through the whole process.
