Trent University Durham GTA

I lived in the Trent Durham residence the first year it was built. It is understandable that, due to the pandemic, some difficulties occurred but that does not excuse the complete and utter incompetence I experienced from the majority of staff while living there. Students are never informed on updates on protocols or really anything and get punished for breaking rules they didn't even know were in place. The staff is also never informed as I've experienced on numerous occasions staff being completely unable to help me with an issue because their higher ups don't inform them on anything. Furthermore, throughout the year there were numerous promises made to the students which were never kept, the building still was not completely finished after my school year was over (there were maintenance workers in the building everyday trying to fix things but only ever succeeding in setting off alarms). The cafeteria serves nothing healthy, except for a terrible chicken caesar salad, everything is deep fried. I also noticed many safety issues such as, maintenance workers leaving a disgusting mess after cutting into the ceiling or walls and students not being informed on evacuation protocols (even after I addressed the severity of this issue with the head of the housing department). Having my first year of university occur during a pandemic was disappointing as is, but the Trent Durham residence somehow made it worse. Truly, the only positive thing I have to say about this place is that it gave me the opportunity to make incredible friends but, if it wasn't for those friends, I would've moved out after the second just like half of the students who came in first semester did. Trent Durham has a lot of work to do; if I could put 0 stars, I would.

Lovely and very friendly place to visit if your kids are going to apply to there.

For the price of tuition it really doesn't offer much. The one perk used to be free parking but they changed that now too. Also didn't appreciate the large jump in price for tuition during the pandemic when students weren't allowed on campus. Lost a lot of respect for this school in the last few years.

Terrible university, profs that are tenured teach at a fraction of teaching ability as their contract counterparts (which is sad for the students and reputation of the school). A 6 storey building was built, mostly for residency instead of classrooms for the already pathetic selection of courses this campus offers because this is a business that values money over education. The president (Leo Groarke) does not care about the students as he has forced many of them to return to in-class learning despite the decades of research that show some students learning more efficiently in hybrid or online models of learning (again, because of greed). Unlike other universities, this school has the capability to enable a hybrid model of learning but choose not to because they refuse to spend a couple thousand on video enabled cameras and recording devices for all of the classrooms. The school used to be an elementary school so there are already a pitiful amount of classrooms and an even lesser selection of classes to take at the durham campus... they could at least make more online classes which they had promised to do after they forced us back to classrooms and did not keep that promise (or added a laughable amount that was negligible).

Terrible University... Do think again before paying fees if you are an international student. They say on the website that the refunds take 3-4weeks to process but it's been more than 10 weeks and a plenty of emails, and they still say that it'll take about a month to process the refund.

It is my first time at this campus and I really enjoyed it. Students are more energetic and enthusiastic and the people working are very nice. The best thing was that parking is easy to find with minimal issues

Honestly this school needs more invigilators and more larger rooms… some of the classes were really small and had very limited chairs (students sit beside each other) and that desks are connected so it’s easy for people to cheat. Desks should be separated into individual desks

I don’t recommend Trent University Durham at all. In a place where one is meant to learn and build connections, they are instead treated unprofessionally by the teachers. I myself was targeted by a teacher here and no matter how many complaints I made to the Dean, nothing was done. If you’re interested in receiving the education you paid for all while being treated with respect, I highly suggest looking elsewhere.

Don't keep international students in delusion. On the website they have mentioned that it takes 4 weeks to get decision on the application, it's been 14 weeks i haven't heard from them.

Warning to parents, I would never pay a tuition for my children to go to a sub par woke institution like Trent University, Send your children where they can get a proper education with real skills and values to uphold their future. The woke ideology that schools as Trent are forcing down our childrens throats have no place in an employment or career setting and will only hinder their chances of success in life.
