Good food, lots of options, I recommend the croissants. But if you're not a young attractive university student don't expect the staff to be particularly pleasant. The staff will bend over backwards for a pretty face, but otherwise you're just wasting their valuable time.Do yourself a favour and head a few blocks north to the Cook and Meares street location, same great food and drinks with much better customer service.

I love Bubby's Nosherie! The coffee and treats are amazing! And the people working there are so nice. I also very much appreciate that, unlike a lot of other places nowadays, I don't have to wear a mask when I'm there, and the staff doesn't have to wear masks. I'm a common sense" kind of guy ... I feel that if I keep a bit of a distance

I am a regular customer of both the Cook Street Village and James Bay locations. I love the food, but I have reluctantly decided that I can't continue going to either location. Although the staff is lovely, they are crowded together in a small space while they work, withno masks or other precautions. It is very difficult to get in and out of either location while maintaining physical distancing, particularly since neither location limits the number of customers permitted inside at any time. Generally other customers are very good about monitoring this themselves, but honestly, it is just too tight a space and it doesn't feel safe anymore. I hope they can make a few changes, but unfortunately, for now I will have to look for another place to frequent.

I almost didn't find this place as the sign and door face diagonally, so when you walk down Cook street, looking at street facing signs, you likely won't see it. The entrance is on the corner of the building. We walked in, intent on ordering a latte and chai and hoping to order a gluten free goodie, due to allergies, not choice. They have larger mugs, so you can order a sixteen ounce to stay, which we did. We also ordered the flourless chocolate cake and a chocolate, quinoa muffin to go, for later. For seating there are two, oversized chairs which sit low, but so far back you are almost laying back to have any back support. The rest of the seating is cute, with log pole backed chairs, but not the most comfortable...so you won't want to stay too long. The washroom, like most around BC, is ungendered. It was clean and had enough room to take care of business...which is all that is required. The coffee and chai were warm but cool enough to drink immediately and both had good flavor and body. The flourless, chocolate cake was delicious and perfect for sharing. I told the employees whoever is baking their GF goodies outbakes the only GF shop we found in Victoria. We tried the muffin, two days later...as it was forgotten while we ran around. It was still moist and had good, soft but firm crumb that didn't stretch a whole lot when pulled apart before separating. Many gluten free baked goods tend to be too elastic, which also makes for a gummy mouth feel. Their baker knows how to bake gluten free, even if they didn't begin in that arena.Parking is fairly easy. Most of the downtown street area is pay for until six in the evening, but it's reasonable.Their chalkboard menu states they sell gluten free buns Saturday through Tuesdays as well. I will most definately be back. :)

Bubbys is a gathering place and the definition of cozy neighbourhood cafe. The staff are warm and friendly, and they know their regular customers by name and order. Good reliable coffee. Tasty treats. And a good selection of gluten free items too. I come here when my soul needs a boost ❤️

Nice neighbourhood bakery with friendly service. Prices are reasonable and comparable to Starbucks’ bakery but here tastes better and less greasy. The bakery items has a homemade look and tastes great, not overly sweet. I ordered a carrot cake, Portuguese tarte, and a chocolate chip cookie. Carrot cake has pineapples, cinnamon, and I think walnuts. The Portuguese tart was different than the ones I usually get in Chinese bakeries in that these ones have vanilla bean in the custard. Chocolate chip cookie is the crispy kind and had a caramelized chocolate flavour. Very yummy, I would come back for more!
