Big Hill Retreat

Beautiful quiet log chalet with great hosts.

Spent 3 nights here for my honeymoon in the Fall. The place came stocked with wood for the woodstove with an axe to split more if needed. A regular stove and fridge and sink were also installed. We stayed in the A-Frame cabin which had a loft and a beautiful view of treetops. Very secluded and a wonderful space to spend some time.

Been here three times now, wouldn't consider staying anywhere else while visiting Cape Breton. Terry and Linda are very nice and welcoming and the cottages (I've only stayed in the spruce and chalet) are absolutely beautiful.

The cabins here are lovely, provided with wood stoves, fabulous views and wonderful silence. Go if you ever get the chance.

Quiet place away from everything, but at the same time in the centre of Cape Breton. The hosts are friendly and the cabin is beautifully crafted and very comfortable

Second time visiting and we've fallen in love. Incredibly clean, quiet- it's the perfect retreat for peaceful experience. Close to anything you might need!

Amazing retreat.

This place! It is magical! It is medication for the soul! The silence and the nature surrounding it invites you to contemplate and create. Each cabin is unique in its own way, each a different size, every one of them with a beautiful view of the expansive Cape Breton forests. Terry and Linda are wonderful, welcoming hosts. Linda’s pottery studio is open for the guests to visit, and she happily strikes up a conversation if you happen to drop by while she is working.If you like a quiet cabin in the woods, away from the noise of the town and the hi-way, yet still close to town, if you don’t mind driving up and down the hill, on an unpaved road, then I couldn’t recommend this place more.

Love it here. Great place to spent a weekend or even few days. Far from everything. Very quiet and cozy.
