Rutherfords and Stuart provided wonderful support during a challenging time. My sister had ALS and when she entered a Hospice, 7 months before she passed, we had to select a Funeral Home and start to make choices regarding her funeral. Stuart provided excellent information regarding options in a way that was positive and supportive. When she passed he was there every step of the way, giving guidance and suggestions, enhancing ideas and supporting the family’s choices on how to celebrate the life of a sister and an Aunt. A difficult time was made easier as Stuart recognized and supported what was important to my sister and our family / friends in honouring and celebrating my sister. Thank you!!

Stuart Lender is at the top of my list as the most warm, comforting and genuinely caring person I have met. He seems to make you feel that way before you even meet him in person. He walked me through every step of the paperwork and where my daughter would be throughout her cremation. I never felt rushed, pressured or as if my daughter was just another number. He definitely wanted to make everything as easy for me as he possibly could and not cause me anymore grief. He is absolutely wonderful at what he does and I will be eternally grateful to him.

There are not enough stars for this team and the Aquamation ProcessIt is a strange thought to write a review for a funeral home, until you try to find reviews for a funeral home to ensure that your precious loved one is taken care of properly. We found ourselves in this very situation. We know there is never enough time with those that we love but when health fails, it seems like the time available to make the right arrangements is absolutely fleeting.Stuart and his team at Rutherford Cremation & Funeral Services / James A Rutherford Funeral Home, were the answer to everything we needed.We were looking to find information out about Aquamation, a relatively new process to Ontario but one that we'd heard about through a social media post made by Stuart directly on Facebook, I had tripped across it a few weeks prior. There is so little out there about it we were really going on a wing and a prayer, as it were. We were trying to do research on providers in Ontario and ended up calling Stuart to find out more. His kind and caring demeanour was evident immediately. We were drawn to his honest and clear information about the process, while still maintaining a kind and caring interaction.The process of Aquamation is one that appealed to my father not only because of the ecological implications but also because it just seemed to feel right. My father was always a trend setter, and as I understand it he had the auspicious honour of being the first person to complete the aquamation journey with Stuart and their team. It seems strange to say that we were happy with the process, but in the end that is really what we were. Cremation had always been on the horizon for most of my family, but after learning of this option, using alkaline hydrolysis and not flame, we have all changed our wishes.Stuart explained everything to us about their company and the process, and answered many questions over the next days as we tried to manage the needs of my father's death. Never once did we feel pressured to agree to anything we were not completely comfortable with.When he and his team arrived to take my father into their care, it was immediately apparent the he had certainly found his calling. It must be a difficult job to help families in the transition after death on a day to day basis, but Stuart does so in the kindest and most compassionate way. There was no rush, no feeling that he had anyone else that mattered at that moment but us.He checked in with the family shortly after to be sure we were ok and to make arrangements for a follow up meeting where he helped my mother with the paperwork for all the government submissions needed.He traveled over an hour to our house to meet with us and again, there was the feeling that we were the only thing he needed to worry about that day. His thoughtfulness and patience in helping us through this time was so incredibly appreciated.His understanding with us a family as we worked through the obituary and the receiving of my father's remains were exactly as the previous interactions had been. I am so very thankful for Stuart and his team for everything that he did to make us feel cared for and guided in a way that was professional, thoughtful and compassionate.If you need someone to make you feel cared for and respected in a time where so many are taken advantage of, then this is the team you are looking for. Remarkable customer service during our time of grief. No up selling, or pressure when we were at our lowest. Stuart is a true professional that has found his calling. Very accommodating to all of our needs whether big or small. This funeral home and cremation service is a gem. Able to provide five star services within a very reasonable budget. A full service funeral home business in a modest space. No regrets in the choice made when we needed someone the most. Forever grateful.

We found Stuart to be extremely compassionate and positive.
