Budget Car Rental

One star is honestly too much. I made an appointment a few weeks and everything seemed just fine. I did have to contact customer support for some questions and got super poor service but figured oh well

The worst car rental in Guelph. We made a reservation online and went to collect the car and were denied that because our driver license is not from Canada. We tried to explain that we have been visiting Guelph from past three years and do not live here but the receptionist did not budge and even refused to allow me to talk to his superiors. They did not have any issues with other people with Driver licenses from other countries but we were singled out. We felt racially discriminated.

The Customer Service Representative Justin Miller was biased, non cooperative and unprofessional. His attitude was not customer friendly, his murmuring could hardly be understood. He looks sick and tired of his job. Budget needs significant improvement at Guelph location.

Justin is a great guy. He’s honest, as well as straight forward. The cars are always clean as well as the front desk area!

Worst experience I have ever had renting a car. Made un online reservation to pick up a car in Guelph. When making a reservation online, they ask if you are above 25 years old or not, as I am not I clicked under 25. In the next steps I added an additional driver to my reservation (which costs extra) and confirmed the reservation. However, by the time we wanted to pick up the car were told by their employee that we were not allowed to have an additional driver as we are both under 25. However, this is nowhere stated on their website and the website even gave us the option of adding an additional driver after I filled in my age. On the website it says that they do rent cars to people under 25 and that the second drive has to meet the same requirements as the primary driver (meaning that you do not need to be above 25). Nevertheless, they also could not change our reservation and take out the extra fees for the additional driver. However, we refused to pay for for something they were not willing to provide us. The employee just recently started working there he was unable to help us further and his manager was unavailable. So we tried to call costumer service but they could not help us either as they were unable to change anything. So we decided to come back the next day to speak to the manager. This is were it gets even worse. The manager very rude to us from the start. We explained to him what happend the day before and he right away started off very arrogantly saying he does not have to show us their policy and we should have taken an closer look at their policy on their website (which does not say what he says!!). Then he concluded with that bacause of the situation he did not want to rent a car to us at all anymore even though we made a reservation and he was still unable and refusing to show us the policy where it says we are not allowed to have an additional driver under 25. We jokingly said that we could try it at their neighbours (Enterprise). Well we did and we got the best service at Enterprise, they we able to provide us with a car the same day, did not make a point about our age and allowed us a second driver as well for an ever better price.So to conclude, do not ever rent a car at Budget Car Rental in Guelph as they have the worst costumer service!

The office space is a dump. The clerk (unsure his name as he is in a non-descript hoodie and has no nametag) cannot get the payment system working. No apologies for it taking so long (30 minutes and counting). I've had to input my corporate cc four different times. I haven't even gotten into the car yet but it's all very sketchy and would avoid this Budget at all costs.Eta: got the rental car. It clearly has not bern cleaned as there is hair and dirt all over. Not imptessed

Just the Manager was very rude and snarky. The gentleman that got me the car was very nice. Too bad George doesn't own the location as he knew proper customer service.

Last Saturday, I was supposed to drive to Montréal as I am giving an invited lecture at a symposium hosted by Concordia University. I turned my car on and was idling for a few minutes while I loaded up the destination on my phone, and honestly, it is lucky that I did this because the check engine light came on. (If I had been on the road when this happened, it would have been so much worse, so I am grateful that it at least happened this way.) Unable to find a mechanic that could look at my car on the same day, I started calling car rental agencies. Most companies are closed on weekends so I was starting to think I would need to cancel my trip, which would have been stressful since I made a promise to my colleague to attend this symposium. Luckily, I was able to reach Budget. Though my request was on short notice and I could not officially make a booking through the website, Tristan was able to help get me a car for the next day working on the backend. I am very appreciative that I did not have to cancel my trip. Thanks Tristan for all your help!

Dirtiest car (interior) I have ever rented; time stamp 10 min prior to vehicle inspection, so actually had only 20 min grace period from actual and requested check out time; car was suitable for my needs.

This was my first time renting a car and they made the procedure, very easy. Nice staff, clean car and reasonable prices.
