Not Cactus Club, Browns, Earls or any other tacky Vancouver chain. This is an OLD SCHOOL DINER. It’s cheap, a little grimy, but full of charm. They don’t make places like this anymore. Thank god this one has stood the test of time.

Gorgeous old diner full of original fittings. It's no longer in its prime but it's full of character and clean. The staff is wonderful. The menu is classic diner fare without an overabundance of choices. Food is cheap and delicious. You do need to navigate through homeless people on the street outside but don't let that deter you from visiting this gem. They are just people doing their best to get through their days. No one even asked me for spare change. 12/10 would go back.

Nostalgic and warm , friendly and reasonably priced . Grace the owner is very nice and kind to us , service is prompt and feel like home. Omelette tastes great ! Ovaltine Cafe reminds me of the good old days in China town .

Love this place. Yeah, you have to deal with some of the issues of the DTES, but this diner is worth it. Grace is great, the food is good, and the prices are low. We really liked our lunch here.

The bread was dry. I could literally taste how old the bread was. The bag was probably open all night? HahaActually disappointed.Club sandwiches are my favourite and they’re very hard to mess up.I usually test out restaurants by how good their clubs are.Heard great things of this diner.Will not be coming back.Service was okay.

I think it’s really important to note that this diner is in the heart of an unhoused area where there are a lot of drugs. As a tourist, I couldn’t read that from previous reviews.Yes, the server was super kind! Yes, the food was greasy but fine.But the kitchen was dirty and I wouldn’t return.

If you want vintage this place is it. Built in 1941, it hasn't been updated since. Prices are great and that's an understatement. Atmosphere is a little rough around the edges, but if you are okay going to the DTES for a meal, definitely worth checking out.
