Mountain Woman Take-Out

Hidden just a left turn off the Sea to Sky highway when driving back towards Vancouver, you'll stumble upon the Mountain Woman Take-Out, a true treasure for any weary traveler. It's no more than a quaint bus turned diner, an unassuming gem against the breathtaking backdrop of Howe Sound. Yet, it's in its simplicity that Mountain Woman becomes a necessary pit-stop for anyone journeying down this route.We visited after a hike up the Sea to Summit trail, hunger gnawing and spirits high. We opted for the fish and chips and a side of poutine, accompanied by a simple black coffee. To say our expectations were surpassed would be an understatement. The fish, encased in a light, crispy batter, was remarkably fresh and perfectly paired with their tartar sauce. The chips, golden and well-seasoned, were an excellent sidekick. The poutine was another standout, the perfect comfort food to satiate our hiking-induced hunger.The meal, coupled with the pleasant outdoor patio seating and an unmatched view of Howe Sound, made for an unforgettable experience. We were greeted by friendly staff, quick service, and a genuinely comfortable atmosphere that made us feel right at home. It's the kind of place where even amidst rapid development, it stands resilient, welcoming and nurturing all who come across it.Mountain Woman Take-Out is not just about the food, though it is truly delectable. It's about the experience - an idyllic pit stop amidst the beautiful vistas of the Sea to Sky corridor, where the food is comforting and the atmosphere even more so. Next time, I'm eager to try one of their burgers. I’m sure it will be just as memorable as the fish and chips.

Great stop for lunch! Very tasty food paired with awesome service! Wonderful spot on the sea to sky highway. Beautiful views from the outdoor eating area. Had the children burger with fries and a strawberry milkshake.

Friday is fish day and these are the best fish and chips I've eaten in a long while! Crispy light batter, fish was so fresh and delicious, good chips, excellent portion size and your coffee was sooo good! Friendly staff, can't believe we've been passing by all these years and this is our first time here. We'll be back!!Oh, and the view is spectacular!

Food tasted great, the service was great! Just a great place all around to stop by on your way up or back from Whistler! I want to try the prawns next time !!

Oh yeah! Whenever I drive back to Squamish from Vancouver this stop is a no-brainer. The fish and chips are simply delicious. Located in Britannia Beach this long standing bus/diner is a Sea to Sky Highway favourite. With an outdoor patio and beautiful view of Howe Sound, it's a nice respite from highway driving. Great spot for lunch or after a day of hiking! Fish batter was perfection. Chips were a little salty for our liking. Mountain burger was amazing!!! Prices are fair :)

I opened 17 Fish and Chips restaurants and the fish and chips here is simply the BEST !!! HANDS DOWN THE BEST. Lightly crusted Red Snapper (not Cod or not Pollock). Beautifully cooked. Chowder was good too. Insane. Great lunch after the Britannia Mining Museum ... which I highly recommend too.

Right off the Sea to Sky highway is where you’ll find this hidden gem. Right from the start, you are welcomed by the pleasant smells and sounds of a grill that cooks like no other. We opted for the mountain burger and fish and chips with no expectation, and boy were our expectations met and in fact exceeded them. These are a hit. I’d take a plane from home just to have this breath taking view with an amazing burger. And the fish and chips? Amazing. The tartar with it too? Amazing. The chips? To die for. That and a cold beverage or choice (mine was a can of coke) and you’ll be feeling the same. Thank you for it.
