Walked around Vancouver to find it said closed until Spring but as it was the end of April I was confused as to when Canadian Spring started lol. So I can't comment on the content but peering through a window there appeared to be plenty of stuff to view. Pity it was closed.

The Jimi Hendrix Shrine, one of Vancouver’s most fascinating urban curiosities, is closed due to lack of funds. While we are rather disappointed and ask why a person like Jimi Hendrix, who probably still receives / heirs royalties, would have a shrine that is unattended, we gave it a five star because at least his memory and that of his mother is still there for his many fans. Why does the American musician have a Vancouver place of worship?Jimi’s grandmother Nora Hendrix lived in Vancouver’s often overlooked African-American community around Hogan’s Alley in Strathcona.During his boyhood, Jimi spent many summers in Hogan’s Alley with Nora, who owned the former Vie’s Chicken and Steakhouse where the shrine is located.Vie’s was much more than a watering hole; it was the venue for visiting African American performers such as Nat King Cole and Louis Armstrong. The artists would eat at Vie’s after concerts.Legend has it that Jimi and his cousins would stay up late helping their grandmother serve these famous musiciansBorn Johnny Allen Hendrix on 11-27-1942, Jimi Hendrix died 09-18-1970 at the age of 27. An American rock guitarist, singer and songwriter, a career that spanned only 4 years, Hendrix is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th Century. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame describes him as ‘arguably the greatest instrumental in the history of rock music.Born in Seattle, Washington, Hendrix began playing guitar at the age of 15, enlisted in the US Army and trained as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. The world’s highest-paid performer, Hendrix headlined the Woodstock Festival in 1969 and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970 before his accidental death from barbiturate related asphyxia on 09-18-1970.We honor his memory!

If you're a Hendrix fan this place is well worth the trip. It's a very interesting piece of rock n' roll history. The shrine is actually the kitchen of Jimi's grandmother's fried chicken restaurant. Inside you find the typical Hendrix images and stuff and also some family photos and very cool authentic-looking photocopies of his own notes.

Interesting history, but unfortunately, very little to see. None of the historic site remains.
