Dog Training for Life

I started working with Yasuko at Dog Training for Life two months ago and I am already seeing results. I have a five year old Belgian Shepherd. I have done lots of obedience training in the past, and my dog is well behaved – when there are no distractions. I went to Yasuko for private coaching because all the obedience training disappears when my dog sees a distraction, like a rabbit, a deer or other dogs. After just a few weeks working with Yasuko my dog is starting to exercise self-control when there are distractions, and most exciting, she is looking to me for direction instead of just focusing on the thing she wants to chase. I am confident that with continued coaching I will have a well-behaved dog in almost any situation.

I have known Yasuko for almost 8 years, since our dog (Levi) was 8 weeks old and since then Levi stays with her at least once a week and while we are away.Every one knows how stubborn Shibas are and with Yasuko’s training skills everyone are impressed by Levi’s behaviour.She is amazing.Levi loves her more than us ❤️

Yasuko has helped our rescue dog Jimmy. Her training methods are ethical and positive (no treats or shock collar required!). When Jimmy first came to us, we felt helpless as Jimmy showed aggression as well as severe anxiety. She has helped my family to understand Jimmy's behaviours, which allowed us to bond with Jimmy quickly. When it comes to a rescue. You don't know what you are getting, you have no idea what that dog's been through, or what is ahead of you. You can only hope to love them and it is well received.Lesson One, Yasuko took the time to tell us about Australian Kelpies, their history, and their imprinted DNA… Strong-Willed mind of her own, is smart, versatile, and capable – when well trained and well exercised can learn almost anything, and requires a confident owner who can take charge.Lesson Two, seeing and understanding what Yasuko could do that I could not; within minutes my dog was responding to commands… Yasuko then told me to do the same. It wasn’t about training the dog, it was about training the owner.Lesson Three, building a relationship (trust); from the first day of training (within minutes) Yasuko had a bond with my dog, and as if without saying a word, she (my dog) said I’m ready to be trained.In a very short period of time, I was no-longer being dragged up the hill or had to wonder if she was going to attack or go after another dog.
