Rodney’s REEL Outdoors

Rodney is super knowledgeable. As a fisherman from Ontario everything was new to me. My gf has not fished in over a decade. He had us catching fish and knowing everything there is to know about BC fishing in no time at all.

We had an amazing time. Rod was the best fly fishing guide. He made our trip so exciting for all three days. We will be recommending Rodney's REEL to all family and friends.

What an amazing trip. The weather was not great, but not bad with your awesome heated cockpit, we enjoyed your great company and plenty of action on the rods. I came over from the UK for a few days to visit family. I'm a keen angler at home and wanted to try something different. My brother-in-law tagged along. We had a great experience with Rod, great guy, knowledgeable, friendly, excellent equipment and a lovely boat. Okanagan Lake, it's surroundings and BC in general are stunning.We had a few Rainbows each up to a good size. We had a number of Kokanee and my brother-in-law lost a lot of them before managing to get them to the boat to the point where he wanted one in the boat more than a Rainbow! I think he got one by the 10th attempt! It got quite tense at times ha. No fault of Rod or the equipment...just a case of getting used to how to play them gently due to their soft mouths.All in all a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend Rod to anybody looking to do some fishing in any of the lakes he operates in. You won't regret it.

I can’t say enough about the great experience I had with Guide Rodney this week. He taught me so much and gave many tips on my technique that made huge improvements. I learned about the hatch and I was able to land a few on the fly and with indicators. The rainbows were feisty and I was able to feel the thrill of hooking and landing my first of many! Rodney’s knowledge of this region and where to go for the day is a huge advantage and I will definitely be booking more trips with him! I’ve been out fishing with Rod on several occasions. (In the Shuswap, on Lake Okanagan, and Skaha Lake). Rod has everything dialed in. He’s punctual, knowledgeable and is always working the lines to make sure you and your group have a successful day. It’s also worth mentioning he’s a great host (easy to talk too and equipped with good tunes to keep the waiting interesting.) I’m already planning my next trips.

This was our second year fishing with Rodney on Lake Okanagan. We are a family of five inexperienced anglers! Rodney and the boat are fully equipped, he is very knowledgeable, is extremely friendly and patient, and is great with kids. He also cleans the fish for you, which is much appreciated! We highly recommend him and look forward to fishing with him again next year!

We were very much looking forward to our fishing charter with Rodney's REEL Outdoors based on the positive reviews but were left very disappointed with our experience. Our guide barely spoke the entire four hours, didn't explain anything about fishing, the lake or the fish we were trying to catch and made it very clear he would rather be anywhere else. Three out of the four of us didn't even touch a fishing rod despite our interest and excitement to try. It was one of the most uncomfortable and awkward four hours I've experienced in a long time.Given the high price, we were expecting more. We spoke with Rodney afterwards about our experience but nothing was done to make it right. Would recommend going with a different company.
