Cozy atmosphere, lovely hosts and excellent food. Lots of variety between each of the 7 courses. Will be coming back in the near future. If you're looking for a great meal, this is the place!

I cannot say enough amazing things about the food and the whole experience. We felt at home from the moment Susan greeted us when we arrived. The atmosphere, the host and the chef were all incredible. Highly recommend this restaurant. You will leave wanting more. Thank you so much for a great experience Susan and Chef Dave!

Was outstanding menu. Oddly a simple carrot soup was my favorite dish. And I know people are thinking.....carrot soup, okay how is that special, but let me tell you that carrots were distilled into carrot butter and carrot sugar then combined to elevated a simple soup into something unique and memorable.

October 2022, here again for an excellent meal full of surprises (how does he coax that much wonderful flavour from squash? or beets?) Fourth time around means we're regulars."Previously:A wonderful dining experience late Oct. 2019 for a party of five very pleased diners. All 7 courses ranged from delicious to spectacular. Also a culinary learning experience: asked for and received the soup recipe - made it at home exactly as written and turned out almost as good (we lacked truffles). Bring good wine."

My wife and I made the trip up to Bessie North House and both agree that it was by and far the best meal that we have had in Nova Scotia. Our 7 course meal was carefully orchestrated, paying great attention to detail. The flavours, textures, and presentation left nothing to be desired. The service was friendly, prompt, and playful, yet professional with a strong knowledge base.We would most certainly recommend this experience to anybody who has even a modicum of appreciation for food.Bravo, Dave and Susan ! Thank-you for the fond memory, we will return!

Great farm to table concept… but for $150 per person you leave hungry and underwhelmed. It’s a good opportunity to see how fresh your food can be, but I felt like some of the dishes were hit (yummy sourdough bread but with bland butter or the tender asparagus or the seed cracker paired with a yummy apple rhubarb compote and very nicely fluffy cake) or miss (weirdly sweet dashi broth for halibut or overcooked sous vide chicken (it was almost paste-y) or the warm undercooked pasta (tortellini?)).It’s fun to hear where the food comes from but that doesn’t make the food more delicious or worth more $$. It’s very hard to get a seat here but I’m not sure if it is worth it to come back. I might not be the right customer base. If you are someone who has $$ and appreciates having food come from a neighbour’s farm or foraged in the woods more than texture or flavour then come here. Maybe food is better is a different season

We celebrated our 40th anniversary here. It was a delicious and a very different dining experience. So many delightful and surprising taste in every course served. With the hostess explaining where the food came from and how it was cooked/prepared added to the whole experience. If we can get a reservation, we will be back next year for sure.
