Dr. Sunny Lai

I've seen multiple podiatrists over the past few years and none of them have been this kind, detail oriented, and treatment focused as Dr. Lai. He is an extremely gentle doctor who also wants to ensure success for his patients during and after treatment.

Recently, Dr Lai removed severe ingrown toenails from both of my big toes. From the first, I was very impressed with both the office and the staff. When I met Dr Lai, he proved himself to be a very professional but also an extremely personable gentleman. Both of my surgeries were carried out with considerable skill and were virtually painless. Throughout the procedures Dr Lai explained exactly what was going on. He provided a comprehensive after care regimen, which I followed with the result that I no longer have painful ingrown toenails and the recovery was painless. I do not hesitate to recommend Dr Lai to anyone in need of footcare.

I had an incredible experience with Dr. Lai!I've had issues with my ingrown toenail for ~5 years now, but had always been hesitant to go to a podiatrist to get it permanently fixed. Dr. Lai was extremely kind and professional as he walked me through what the procedure would be like, the possible risks, and the recovery process.He did a great job at making me feel at ease, and his surgical work throughout the process was amazing! I’ve been to a number of family doctors and podiatrists regarding my feet, but I’ve never had as good of an experience as I had with Dr. Lai. His bedside manner, professionalism, and kind nature are better than any doctor I’ve visited. He clearly cares for his patients, wants everything to be pain free, and does everything he can to make you feel comfortable. I will continue to see and recommend Dr. Lai.

Dr Lai, was very patient with my 13 year old son and he conducted the procedure and explained every detail to him.He was considerate of our financial situation and told us to come again once we were insured so as to avoid a big bill. He gave very clear instructions and was generally very polite. The two ladies in reception also were very polite and helpful. We visited the metrotown office. It was worth three weeks of waiting.

Dr. Lai helped me with a couple of foot problems. I am terrified of needles and was very scared to get my painful ingrown toenail removed. He put me at ease and performed the procedure beautifully. I wore bulky old orthotics in the past and he replaced them with thin carbon fibre ones. I am happy to say they are very comfortable and fit into most of my narrow shoes now. Will not hesitate to recommend him.

I highly recommend Dr. Lai. He and his staff were friendly, professional and very helpful before during and after my surgery. I had surgery to my big toe as a result of an ingrown toe nail. I’d had it operated on before without success. It was very painful. Dr. Lai didn’t hurt me. Yippee. He was very careful, thorough and reassuring. I wouldn’t go to anyone else. Thank you Dr. Lai.

What a great doctor that this guy is. I went to him for a second opinion regarding a major ankle injury that I suffered during hockey. He was very kind, knowledgeable and answered every single question that I threw at him. Didn’t make me feel rushed and made me learn a lot about what had happened to me and my future with this injury. His bedside manner is outstanding. I wish more doctors were like him.

Dr. Lai was quick to tell me I needed custom orthotics for my ailment. However, there was no mention of price until I was checking out with the receptionist. Furthermore, I was instructed by my physician to bring my shoes to Dr Lai during my first visit but he did not give much importance to them. He then prescribed medication which a) was not covered under extended health and b) was not appropriate for my condition as confirmed by a second podiatrist and lack of improvement in my condition.Reviews seem to indicate he is great for ingrown toenails. Else, I would suggest continuing your search. Important to note, his office does not do direct billing either. Considering I had a foot ailment, he did not do as much as I hoped he would before suggesting a diagnosis and resolution.Although the orthotics are necessary and a good start, Dr Lai was very steadfast that surgery and injections would be the next step, which I found to be his personal opinion and not one I shared. I did not find this information before seeing him, I hope this helps someone in the future.Seems knowledgeable and friendly and based on online information good at ingrown nails.
