Many of the well-known restaurants in Kensington were already packed and had a lineup going out of them. I had never been here but had wanted to try and take the opportunity today. The Staff is all extremely friendly and very fluent in Spanish and English. The service was extremely punctual and the food was authentic and delicious. We had to try the guacamole and chips as an appetizer. You have to try their guacamole if you come here. It's as good as it gets! The Mexican version of horchata is much sweeter and more cinnamon than other types. It was really good however. The michelada I tried was quite spicy and I think it depends more on the type of beer you pick if it appeals to your taste. I tried the Gringa Hawaiana " and the combination of the sweet and savory was perfect. The atmosphere inside is also really well maintained and authentic to what you might find in a typical Mexican restaurant. It felt really warm and the fact the staff was so charming and helpful for their attitude of the experience.Great all-around food drinks and service. I must try if you're in the area!"

The service is 10/10!!!! It’s really cheap too if you are coming with a group of friends because everything is shareable. I recommend all of the tacos!!!! The server gave us a free shot of tequila at the end. We got the best service and experience!!!!!

El Trampo is a Mexican taco restaurant that serves authentic and fresh tacos. The menu is simple and the food is full of flavours. The drinks are good and the service is quick as well. Father a group of friends so you can order everything off the menu. A very good choice if visiting the Kensington Market

I found this place while strolling through the area on the afternoon I arrived in Toronto for a weekend conference. I love Mexican food, it was a hot afternoon, so it was perfect. I sat on the patio, and my first experience was that the table was still sticky from the previous patrons. The young waitresses were a bit uncertain of their English, but their service was relatively good - it was a very busy afternoon. I made my order and then after a few minutes I asked my waitress if I had seen correctly that there was complimentary chips and salsa. I repeated the question a couple of times, using the words complimentary and free, because I could tell she wasn’t sure. I felt she finally understood, and she went to put the order in. I waited awhile and it was apparent the chips and salsa wasn’t coming. I asked another waitress if they were coming, and when she also seemed uncertain, I repeated my original questions of whether it was complimentary chips and salsa. She seemed also to understand finally, and she retrieved the small portion of chips and salsa. I then received my main meal. Do not expect large portions or accompaniments at this restaurant. When the bill came, the waitress had charged me for the chips and salsa. I said no, that she and the other woman had confirmed they were complimentary. I was polite and did not create a scene. She went into the restaurant, and a few minutes later a woman (I’m guessing the owner) came out and literally seethed at me that there was nothing free in this world and that I better pay for the chips and salsa. I was stunned. And not particularly afraid of her. I explained what had happened - politely and quietly. I asked her to please bring the amended bill, as I simply wanted to pay and leave. She told me off for a few more minutes and then stormed back into the restaurant. I was mortified. A gentleman at the table next to me took a photo I think — I’m not sure what he thought he was taking a picture of. The poor waitress brought me my amended bill, and I tipped her 20% for having to work for that woman. How horrible! I have never, in 45 years, ever been treated like that at a restaurant in my life. Not only was it horrible customer service, but it was outright bullying (and I hate using that word with adults). I was a tourist, so she has nothing to lose by me not going back. Food was tasty enough, but this business is obviously open because they benefit from a tourist location. Not a good representation of customer service in Toronto.

The service and atmosphere were great. The food came out fast! The guac was just amazing, the beef fajitas I had was good a little blend I added the hot sauce my self. My friend had chicken quesadilla and she liked it.

I had Saturday lunch with friends here. The staff were very nice and recommended their popular dishes. It really helped us narrow down our choices because the menu is quite extensive. Food was good, service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. Took out a star because the place was a little too crammed with tables so close to each other. Will go back again when their patio is open.

I was a bit disappointed. Food was okay. The taco shell tasted doughy and wasn’t cooked fully. Biggest disappointment was when I asked for extra lime, they said that they need to charge for it. Like come on… you are a mexican taco place, there should be unlimited limes and even some other taco place gives free guac! All I can say is that yes, you might have saved 5 cents for a slice of lime, but you earned a one star review.Overall, the place was hot and tables were sticky. Not the cleanest environment.

Stopped in for lunch. Guacamole was excellent, and really liked the homemade iced tea. The quesadilla was just a tortilla and some meat - super plain. The fajitas filling was plentiful, but the meats were small, dry pieces of chicken and beef. It was definitely a case of quantity over quality. Service was nice however. It was a bustling place so maybe we just picked the wrong mains. But we have definitely had better Mexican food and would not recommend this place (save for guacamole and drinks, which we would come back for).
