When I got the letter in the mail I thought it was a hoax too so was hesitant to send my personal info. But no, somehow I missed a $1000 pay cheque from UBC almost 20 years ago. Within about 4 - 5 weeks I got a cheque from BC Unclaimed Property Society. Great service!

For years I've been trying to collect $800 cheque issued to me sometime in the early 1980s from a contractor. They refuse to provide the history, actusl date and source of its origins. I'm the only person with my name yet they keep asking for records I don't have. Ministry of Finance says they don't oversee this group. Frustrating scam.

Seems a particularly efficient and gracious service... Initially presumed a letter received last month re: several thousand dollars unpaid wages from UBC" back in 2003 was a hoax... Within a few days of contacting them and proving identity

I can't even get the application submitted. Every time I enter my email address, it shows an error message saying improper email format." I tried to re-submit it with my husband's email and I got the same message. They were both typed correctly.Total scam."

6/29/2023 - 3:08pm PSTCalled to find out what the item was and for some reason the agent on the phone had a condescending tone. I was not rude, but I simply asked what the property was and what could've been explained in 3 words, she explained in a convoluted 30 words and even told me she's exhausted ways to explain. I take it English isn't her first language, but I was the patient one here so that was a very strange customer service experience.
