Sawback Alpine Adventures

I went on two trips with Tom last winter: to Carlyle Lodge in the interior of BC and to Svalbard. The skiing and snow conditions at Carlyle were great and Svalbard was definitely the experience of a lifetime in terms of the terrain, scenery and wildlife. It totally exceeded my expectations. Tom has a knack for picking great destinations and putting together fun, well organized trips.

Tom was professional, well equipped and well prepared! The snow conditions we experienced at Sunrise Lodge made it imperative to have a guide with experience to keep us safe yet challenged. Hope to ski with Tom and his crew again soon.

Our Bow Yoho Traverse was absolutely phenomenal and both Christian and Steve went so far above and beyond to make it so special. These guys worked so hard and put together an absolutely epic week for us. Incredible leaders, so professional, did a great job managing the group, and are just such a blast to be around.

Tom Wolfe was our ski guide on 2 memorable ski trips, to Sorcerer Lodge in 2018, and Valhalla Lodge in 2020. He and his assistant guides were very personable, friendly, professional, knowledgeable and fun. We felt very well taken care of in what is very rugged and potentially hazardous terrain. The chefs Tom hired were also awesome! I would not hesitate to ski with Tom again, and highly recommend him as a guide.

I had the incredible opportunity of going on a hut trip with Sawback Alpine Adventures into the Selkirk hut for a week. Tom was our guide and the whole experience was magical. The guides were extremely knowledgeable they knew where to find the best turns everyday and how to keep everyone safe. They were also very fun and helpful in every way!! The trip was well organized, we did some avalanche training the first day and everyday after that we maximized our time on the snow! The hut was comfortable and had great food and staff! I would HIGHLY recommend booking a trip with Sawback Alpine Adventures!!

Tom is able to accommodate different level of skiers on his trips with ease if that is a concern.The guides Tom brings along with him are always fun and all of them are extremely competent guides. The selection of great cooks Tom lines up contribute to the best overall experience by providing delicious meals.I would not hesitate recommending Tom for people's adventures.

Our trip to Selkirk Lodge was our first multi-day backcountry ski trip. We had an absolutely amazing time. Our guides, Will, Konrad, and Roger, did a great job of finding the good snow and terrain while avoiding any questionable areas. They made sure there were good options if you wanted to charge hard or take it easy. And they were just fun guys to be around. Steve and Adele made the lodge feel like home and Karin is my new favorite chef. Those three worked their tails off but were still always smiling. Our fellow guests were awesome athletes but also super people, very patient and motivating and great to spend the evening chatting with. We had an awesome experience and cannot wait to get back into the mountains!

I recently returned from a one week ski trip to the Burnie Chalet guided by Tom Wolfe of Sawback Alpine Adventures. Tom is an excellent guide and I would highly recommend any of his backcountry ski trips. I hope to return again in the near future.

3 day guided tour in Rogers pass. Would highly recommend this company, and their guide, Will. His focus was to make sure we skied untouched powder on aspects where the snow was in great condition and to keep us safe doing it, and that's what we received all 3 days. Professional and calm, everyone felt safe and at ease despite it being the first time in big mountains for some of us. Fantastic experience and well worth having this company lead your adventure.

Tom Wolfe and Svalbard, Norwegian Arctic on the Noorderlicht.I’ve done a few great trips with Tom over the years so when he emailed a year ago and asked if I wanted to go to the Arctic and ski from a steel hulled yacht I said yes without thinking... Good call. Svalbard was mind-boggling. I had expectations but it beat them. Getting into the zodiac everyday and skiing was amazing. Sea ice, glaciers, seals, walruses, beluga whales and polar bears. Huge huge glaciers, peaks as far as the eye can see. Just amazing scenery.We always enjoy skiing with Tom, classic Canadian mountain guide, mellow but fully on top of snow safety and daily plans for good skiing and tours. One of the best.....As an aside Phil Wickens who was the expedition leader from the boat was also fantastic and a wealth of knowledge - Arctic history, geology, flora and fauna and a very humble but extremely capable mountaineer and skier.Save your pennies and sign up for 2020 - you won’t regret it.....
