Vancouver Mandarin Chinese School

This school is absolutely amazing. I began my journey learning Mandarin this past fall and my teacher Sherry has been phenomenal. Starting a new language, especially one so unfamiliar to me, could have been very daunting. However, I have received all the resources I need and the plan for my learning is very structured so that each lesson I can see my progress and where I need to go. I would highly recommend this school to anyone interested in starting to learn Chinese. I have progressed a lot since the beginning and I have had a lot of fun doing it!!

It is an amazing place for anyone who wants to learn Mandarin. Teachers are very welcoming! Great program for any level!! My son is willing to be fluent in Mandarin, although none of his parents speak Mandarin!! I highly recommend this school!!

I've personally studied in Vancouver Mandarin School for 2 years and have improved drastically. The teachers are great and the teaching materials are very practical and can be used daily in conversation. My family are amazed with my improvement and the unexpected pleasant surprise of being able to read and write more is an added bonus. I could read a lot of signs and menus now.

I have been going to Vancouver Mandarin School for almost 2 years and the teachers are wonderful, focuses on your needs of area of improvements, my mandarin skills have enhanced greatly in speaking and writing. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to excel in learning basic or intermediate mandarin.

I studied at VMS for about 6 months and I'm very happy with the level of mandarin that I have developed both written and conversational. Attending classes had a personal feel to it as the classes were small in numbers and I found this was the best way for me to learn. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to start learning Mandarin.

Vancouver Mandarin School has been an excellent choice for me. I am an adult learner who recently moved to the Vancouver area. I have wanted to learn and be able to use a second language for years. This is the perfect opportunity given the amount of mandarin speaking people in the area.Sherry, my instructor, is well versed in English and very knowledgeable in effective learning strategies. She has been able to provide me with the best techniques to fit my learning style. After 5 weeks of lessons, two lessons per week, I am able to carry on basic conversation, communicate in a restaurant setting, and understand the sentence structure of the language.

I have been studying at Vancouver Mandarin School for 3 months and I find it extremely effective. At the beginning I started off with learning pinyin, and now I am able to read and write the most common characters.I am taking classes with Sherry. She is a great teacher and she will make sure you completely understand what you learn.

Vancouver Mandarin School was a great fit for me to meet my goals. My goal was to pass the HSK level 3 exam and had 2 months to prepare for it. My background was that I took 5 years of Chinese school when I was younger, but have not used any for about 10 years. However, I regularly speak Cantonese with my family but do not read or write.Fu lao shi (Sherry) was a great instructor. She provided an learning plan to meet my goal within such a tight timeline. By going twice a week for a month and a half I was not only able to get 92% on my exam, but I am confident in speaking mandarin on a daily basis and am able to read about 80% of Chinese I see daily. Sherry's ability to translate into English and Cantonese greatly accelerated my learning.I highly recommend anyone who is interested in learning mandarin to give Vancouver Mandarin School a shot.

Sherry is a gifted and empathetic Chinese teacher. She has many skillful methods for teaching English speakers how to memorize and use Chinese characters. I have been taking a class with Sherry for two months now and it has dramatically improved my understanding of Mandarin. She also teaches important lessons, like how the Chinese verb for think" has "heart" as part of the word. This class will teach you to think with your heart and see the world in a different way. Vancouver Mandarin School provides a systematic teaching material, which helps students easily memorize the Chinese characters and the pronounciation. My child now is starting to speak Chinese with more confidence. I recommend it.
