Shahab is an exceptionally bright, patient, and dedicated tutor who has an innate ability to make the most complicated of content easy to understand. He was my tutor for graduate level multivariate linear regression and he was incredibly flexible in his tutoring approach, using multiple methods for explaining the same concept (i.e. graphically, verbally, and using equations). It was commonplace for Shahab to go above and beyond, evaluating the course content prior to our meetings, and following up with information that he thought would be useful between sessions. In addition to the stats content, he also has an extremely solid knowledge base in R. I learned more from him than my stats professor and because of Shahab I feel confident in my understanding of regression analyses and R no longer feels like a black box.I recommend him hundreds of times over, I wish I had the opportunity to work with him earlier ! Worth his weight in gold, honestly.

There are no words to describe how grateful I am for the support I receive from Shahab at Hoops Tutoring. As part of my degree, I had to take a quantitative research course. Despite having completed the first course, the second part of the course required me to use a lot of statistics, which was beyond my understanding. It would be an understatement to say I was overwhelmed. I searched for days for a tutor, and with only two days remaining for an assignment due, I came across Shahab's website Hoops Tutoring. He was quick in responding, very organized, reviewed my assignment before our meeting and was very patient. Shahab broke down the various tests to a level that I understood and answered all of my repeated questions without judgement or frustration. I usually do not write reviews; however, I feel so strongly about the tutoring services I received from Shahab that I needed to share with others looking for a tutor. I have already shared his contact information with friends enrolling in the same course in the fall and spring, and if you are looking for someone knowledgeable, patient and honest, then Shahab is your guy! Ok so let me tell you, don't waste your time any further trying to look for another tutor cause Shahab is the real. deal. I received his help with one of my UBC courses, Stats in Geography (GEOG 374 for fellow UBCs out there) and through his excellent teaching skills, composure, self-made exercises, he managed to turn what sounded like very stressful gibberish to me into a very intelligible subject matter. I managed to do soo much better than I would've had I not received his tutoring. I even used the study notes he made me to study for my exams, just because of how concise and helpful they were. But most importantly, Shahab is a tutor who really cares about you _understanding_ the logic of what he's teaching so you can truly appropriate it and use it on your own after the classes, be it through exercises or super clear, straightforward, simple explanations he gives. I honestly have not ever met a tutor who spends that much time and puts so much preparation into his students' learning--especially for that ridiculous price--and I've had my fair share of tutors in the past. Shahab is a good tutor. He helped me with Statistics this term. He was good at explaining any concepts I didn't understand.

Shahab has made learning Statistics easier than what my professor had taught in lectures. He has made every effort in opening up his schedule to help me with my upcoming exam and am extremely grateful for his help!

Shahab is the best private tutor/teacher for stats I have ever imagined to have! He is a life-saver. He taught me the same material I was having issues to understand at college, and magically it all made sense overnight. He explains in a easy way that the whole comes together and I nailed my midterm and final exam. Shabab helped me a lot in my STAT 302 course that I took over summer. The way he explained the challenging problems not only help me understood the concepts better but also allowed me to answer difficult problems during test. I would highly recommend him.

I feel very fortunate to have had Shahab as my tutor for my return to a graduate-level study. Having been away from quantitative research for many years, I was faced with having to both re-learn and learn anew a set of statistical methods appropriate to my research design. Shahab immensely cut down the amount of time it would have taken for me to do this on my own. Instead of wading through resource after resource, Shahab guided my vision and helped me to thoroughly understand the relevant statistics needed. He also was able to effectively introduce me to the R software environment and help me through sticking points in the learning process. Thanks to Shahab's ability to explain core ideas and underlying logics of both stats and R, I now have the statistical know-how and software abilities to do much on my own. He was agile in his answering of my diverse questions (using concrete examples when needed), was able to identify what I needed from the outset and always ensured to be as prepared as possible.
