As some one who has been going to this school all throughout jr high (im currently in gr 9) i have never had any of the experinces listed below with mean teachers or the pricipale being creepy or anythingthis school is one of the most inclusive and i have had a great expreince so far, there is a wide vriataty of sports and you dont have to have a specific look" to make any of the teams the coaches look for how coachable and how positive you not if you look a certin way. (as somone who has been on many of the spots teams i can say this proudly)the teahcers are nice

I've been at this school for 2 years so far, and it's somewhat better than I expected. The school has a a few problems, such as racism, kids skipping and bullying. The education part though is actually good though I am able to somewhat learn while getting good grades. A lot of the staff are really nice too as long as you're on their good side and it depends who your classmates are.Options are ok, they regularly switch some out depending on how many students join that option that quarter/trimester.Overall if you really had to send your kids here go ahead, it just depends on the school year.

I only had one year at this jr. high during COVID, but my experience was still very bad. And the stories I get from my younger siblings sound a little unreal. This place is not the best.

My personal experience and others were very bad here. Everytime i would visit the washroom, there would be a strong smell of mint and blue raspberry because of the vape kids. Also dr. Payne is a creep when I was slacking off he would ask me to stay after school for 'tutoring help' but I refused.me and my 6 other friends recently left ds mackenzie and transferred to st. thomas aquinas. we felt very welcomed at st. thomas, very terrific school compared to this trash hole.

I liked this school a lot. The teachers are very nice, and somehow even when people get crazy and loud, they mange to keep the volume down. I was thinking about swiching out in grade 8 because I was feeling alone, but I met very cool friends here who are very suportive. I still go to this school, and I think it is awesome. Hopefully I will stay in this school until grade nine.

I was not expecting to write a review today, but after seeing the other reviews written about D.S.M, I felt as though I had to make some things clear.Contrary to most of the reviews written about this place, it is not a bad school. The teachers and faculty are great, the students are nice and the school is very inclusive. I have never experienced anything bad at this school, and I’ve been going to it for over 2 years. The options are pretty great too, but there aren’t as many as other years. Still, most of them are pretty good.I have never had any creepy experiences with the principal like the ones listed below, and from what I’ve seen so far, he seems pretty ok.I have never witnessed any of the teachers bully students. If they say anything that seems mean, they are usually just teasing. Some teachers may seem scary at first (Krawchuk), but once you get to know them, they’re pretty nice. There are some problems, but I can tell you for certain that they are greatly overshadowed by the good things about this school. In the end, if you are wondering whether or not to send your child to this school, I would recommend it (though I may be a little biased). Overall, the people there are great and the school is very inclusive.P.S. There is an academic program too, so if your kids like to do extra work, you can include them in that too I guess.

My daughter went here for the 3yrs, academically she is doing great. The option classes they provide are terrible. Trying too hard to cater to very specific students but forcing others to be in those classes they hate! They also have a specific group of girls for all their teams. You can try out but you won't make it, they have their groups picked out for all their teams no matter how well you play! If you don't have the look" they won't pick you! Do better D.S MacKenzie

Terrible school, the teachers are extremely rude and the principle is a literal creep.David Krawchuk (Japanese teacher) used to encourage bullying and had his favourite students in class. He always gave the female students a higher score and didn’t compromise with those needing extra time.Shawn Magee (Physical education and construction teacher) bullied and isolated students who forgot to bring in their gym uniform, he split students into groups and was extremely racist towards those of color. He forced students to go outside in the extremely cold and harsh weather while he was comfortably dressed up in a heavy warm jacket. The principle and the secretaries did not regulate the school. They in fact tolerated bullying and encouraged students to skip class as they did not provide a welcoming environment. Don’t go there unless you want to mentally horrify your child.
