I have to say it is the best Hainanese Chicken I’ve ever had.

MamaLee was a lot better back then, than it is now. I was very disappointed in the quality of food. We got the fish ball laksa, roti cani and hainese chicken. The laksa was very bland flavourless only a hint of coconut taste and wayyy to much bean sprout not enough noodles. The roti was the biggest disappointment. They pretty much shredded the roti into small broken piece. I felt like I was being fed by my grandma.Hainese chicken is still good. No complaints there. Still very flavourful. The photo was just the two of us having a small bowl each.

The hainanese chicken and the roti canai was delicious. Though, the soup it came with is too salty. We also ordered the Laksa and beef brisket curry. My family is from Malaysia and the Laksa and Curry definitely do not taste malay. Unfortunately it tastes like chinese flavours trying to be malay. Prices are steep for what it is. Service was great.

Really great little Malaysian place with a small but characterful dinning space. Menu is small but has alot of Malaysian classics. Extensive drinks menu as well. Order a half portion of chicken rice and my friend had the tofu curry noodles. All in all the chicken rice was very good. Chicken had the requisite texture and flavor. Came with some cucumbers for freshness and a sweet chili sauce on the side. The rice was ok but could have had a bit more chicken flavor. The accompanying soup was very good and came packed with carrots, I really enjoyed it. The tofu curry was fresh and delicious. We also had a couple iced milk tea, which were very good and refreshing. Would recommend a visit!

This place has completely gone downhill. I understand that things get more expensive but the whole point of you raising prices is so that you can continue to afford serving quality food with reasonable portions. You can't raise prices and then compromise quality and then give your customers tiny portions. Makes no sense. I ordered the regular hainanese chicken rice. On the plate were sad little pieces of chicken spread out to try and fill the plate. Feels like the rice and soup portions were also made smaller. So many other options in town for Malaysian food that I will never go to this place again. Looking at all the other recent reviews, seems like I'm not the only one.

We’re always up to try a good Malaysian restaurant and I’ve heard some good things about Mamalee located on West Broadway in Kits. This is a pretty basic Malaysian restaurant (not a very huge menu) and the interior is quite utilitarian. Still… we’re here for the food. We wound up ordering the Hainanese Chicken (regular size) with a side of soup as well as Roti Canai and a Milo Dinosaur. A cold Milo Dinosuar really is refreshing on a hot day. The simple soup was so aromatic when it arrived at the table.First up is the Hainanese Chicken, served cold, with a side of rice. The poached chicken was quite good and we managed to finish this rather easily. While it comes with a bit of dipping sauce, I would have liked if it had more ginger and scallion dipping sauce (you have to pay extra for more). The Roti Canai was a bit disappointing… not sure what was really going on here. It seemed quite shredded up and the outside seemed to be overcooked and not the least bit fluffy on the inside. We also wound up ordering the Chee Cheong Fun with Fish Balls. This actually turned out to be a pretty good dish and I enjoyed the tender rice rolls but I thought the sauce was a bit too runny as it was difficult to coat the rice rolls with it.Overall impressions… a very minimalistic Malaysian eatery with some hits and misses. In either case, don’t order the roti canai unless you like it overly dry and shredded.

This place used to be so good up to a few years ago. Havent been here for 3 yrs due to the pandemic, and the taste has gone downhill, including the portion, and the price has gone up of course. The laksa and the curry are all water down, the chicken is ok but the portion is small...The service is slow and they are forgetful, had to get up and walk to the counter to remind them of what I asked for twice. There are now better choices elsewhere in Vancouver.

The Hainan chicken here is very good. I like the roti better. However, the dessert was a bit on the expensive side because it’s around $6 for a very small bowl of dessert. I mean very very small bowl. I think it shouldn’t cost that much. We ordered a large size Hainan chicken dish with rice and soup, but seems like a size large is even small for us. And we saw a regular size dish which is even smaller; it’s like a kids meal size. Overall I gave a 3 stars because it is definitely good but I rather pay for another restaurant for similar dish with lower pricing. The price is sort of expensive for a family owned restaurant. I wouldn’t want to come back again because we have to drive far to get here and it’s pricy for what you only get a small portion of everything.

First time here and I must say the Hainanese Chicken is pretty good! Would be better if there is scallion dipping source. One thing I did notice was the portion of the chicken definitely became smaller, comparing with the photos in the past years :(
