Just want to say that School of Handles has an incredible coaching staff. You are not going to get a better skills coach than the King of Handles himself, Joey Haywood. What an opportunity to get one-on-one lessons from Canada's top street ball player. Coach Nico has a passion for the game unlike any other and focuses on teaching the technical and tactical development of the game with his players. Coach Yao is an encyclopedia of knowledge in keeping the players disciplined no matter if his or her goal is club competition or to pursue an academic path towards a varsity or college program. Proud to have my son in this program.

I was fortunate enough to hook up my son with School of Handles about 4 years ago. All the coaches: Nico, Jeremy, James, Sky, and Yao eat sleep and breathe basketball. They all have a passion for the game and are dedicated to teaching the kids. It must start from the top down. Joey, King Handles, Haywood is the head coach. I can't say enough about Coach Joey. Besides his sick skills, he is a great instructor. Not only does he instruct, but he also demonstrates with intensity. He sweats and bleeds with the kids. Beyond basketball I appreciate Joey taking time to teach the kids about life habits. I have seen Joey stop practice multiple times and call out kids who become disruptive or are not stepping up. He demands attention, maximum effort, and accountability during practice sessions. I have been to other clubs where coaches look the other way, lest they offend a player or parent. It's just not about basketball, but life skills that my son has been exposed to with Joey. Hearing it from dad over and over again is one thing, but hearing once from a third party like Coach Joey is something else.If that is not enough, in his mid 30's, Joey still plays at a very competitive level. Watching him, you realize he walks the talk.He does not expect the kids to do anything that he himself is not willing to do. If that does not inspire a youngster, I don't know what will. I'm 58 and even I get inspired.Wherever my son goes with his basketball, or even if he stops playing, I know Joey has contributed to my son's character and work ethic. Best coach my son has ever had.
