Canada/US International Boundary Survey Monument
The border marker is just over half a mile from the shoreline of Maple Beach. The best time to visit is when there is a -2 foot tide or larger during the summer which would allow you to walk all the way out to the marker over sandbars and thru knee deep water. Once you get past the first 3 sandbars, start to look for sand dollars which breed in the low water areas. The shallow water can get warmer than anywhere else along the western coast of the US which makes it an excellent place to go swimming once the tide rolls in. The excellent views of Mt Baker with the border marker also makes this a lovely photograph spot.
