We recently purchased our home 9 months ago and the sellers had the home inspected by Pillar to Post Thomas White. While completing some updates to the home, we discovered a significant amount of mold and rot that originated from a roof leak that was very obviously due to poor construction. The home inspection didn’t uncover any issues pertaining to the roof or the attic; but after spending a couple minutes in the attic, I was able to find a very clear gap in the roofs sheathing that had been stuffed with wire mesh (the construction workers attempt to keep animals out of the attic), along with a bird nest beside the opening. We went back to the company and showed them what was missed in their inspection, but were informed that because the inspection was paid for by the seller and not us that they wouldn’t provide any compensation. The seller hired this company as a courtesy to the buyer, and ultimately the person relying on their service was us. We’ve previously used this company for other inspections before we found our home, and I’m appalled that they’d use a ridiculous loop-hole to avoid providing compensation for an obvious miss. Word of advice to prospective buyers, get your own inspection done; we were very appreciative of the seller because it was difficult to sometimes do a home inspection during (what was) a very turbulent market. Here’s what I was able to find after two minutes in the attic, along with the resulting damage (nearly $20,000 because were required to replace the roof).

Have just had a home inspection using Pillar To Post. Thomas was fantastic, I was so incredibly impressed with the thoroughness of the inspection. Exterior, Interior, all water sources, attic etc. I have to say having owned homes this was the best inspection I have ever received. Thomas White recently did an inspection for an apartment I am purchasing. He was on time, efficient, thorough and explained the whole report to me when he was done.I was especially impressed that he’d checked for any sign of water damage/moisture - a very small price to pay for valuable information on your potential home - it made me very comfortable with the purchase.
