John Gyles Music Room & Inn

We were looking for a place to stop for the night on our travels. The rooms were a little dated but clean and nice. The atmosphere in the bar was a lot of fun. Food was great. Great value for your money. We would stay here again gladly!

Cozy clean room with a rustic feel!Had a great time listening and dancing to the band playing at the pub.Amazing food. House salad and chicken burger was delicious!Nachos were huge and really good.

Under new management and the place is incredible!! The owner and his wife make everyone feel at home!! I found my new watering hole!!! Great pub, great people, pub food is always good but I guarantee you that you've never had pub food this great in your life!!! It's simply an amazing spot!!!

The hotel itself is a 2 Star hotel at best. The rooms are small, and that's fair for the price you pay. And there isn't much nearby. That said, the restaurant at the hotel is charming. Great food, and fun entertainment on Friday nights. Karaoke seems to bring the locals out to have some fun. We (our small group) had a good time singing and joining along. For a lay-over from Halifax to Quebec overnight, worth the price of admission.

Very cute rustic place to stay. Great for road trippers as they have great food, amazing entertainment and restaurant atmosphere. The rooms were cute, comfortable and functional. Comfy chairs were also provided outside the room with a nice view and convenient parking.

Went for Karaoke on a Friday night. A warm welcome, a great crowd, clean comfortable room at a great rate (they support not drinking and driving). Great overnight get away to relax and have fun. Kitchen closes at 10 pm so we missed out on the food but what others had looked delicious when I tried to order the kitchen was already closed but they brought out nachos and salsa Thank you for the great time, we will be back!

Nice hotel. Rooms are a little small but the price is great! Location is just off Highway 2. Not much around so it's not super busy around the hotel, and it has some nice views. Rooms are small but come with all you need such as fridge, microwave, desk, satellite TV, and of course the beds. Owner was very friendly when we arrived and was telling us about future plans to the hotel. They recently took ownership and have plans to fix it up. The restaurant is in the middle of being renovated right now, but sounds like it will be very nice when done. We needed a place to stay for the night while travelling and this place suited us very well, with a great price, and we had a good experience with no problems.

Cozy and clean rooms, lovely grounds and view, east coast hospitality and the restaurant is a gem! Great food all sauces made in house and really reasonably priced. Value for dollar very high. It was a welcome rest on a long trip and the beds very comfortable as well. The hosts are so friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to ensure you have a great stay and experience. If you are there Friday or Saturday they have karaoke and live music most weekends which we definitely enjoyed! They do have dog friendly rooms but be sure to request one upon booking. I understand this as some people have allergies. We had our dogs with us on our travels and the owner Paul booked us a nice lower level room where the dogs had their own bed! We also appreciated there were no chemical smells and discovered they use all natural cleaning products which is fantastic. Highly recommend this spot to stay, eat, or for the live music and karaoke!

I wish we had the opportunity to have come to experience this Music Room and Inn. It has inspired other places to open up and offer similar things. The Crabbe Mountain Inn has a music room and was inspired by this great business. We hope you can open again one day so that we can come experience what you created first hand!

Recently stayed at John Gyles. This place was a nice stop over and was pleasantly surprised. Stayed in a recently updated room. Best part was the room felt really clean and tended too (not what I would typically expect from a motor inn/motel) - nothing better than sleeping in a cozy, clean bed! Would recommend and I'm sure it will become even better as they continue to update the place - including the restaurant. The hosts are friendly as well. Cheers. Oh, also check out the nearby trail if you have an hour to spare - nice little waterfall.
