Soulful Kafe
Last night we ate at the Soulful Kafe. My wife and I both love Portuguese and Jamaican food. We figured Soulful Kafe could offer us the best of both worlds. We didn't realize that they also had an extensive Nigerian menu!If you have ever had the pleasure to walk into Soulful Kafe- you will feel right at home. It provides a very welcoming environment. The owner Karen made us both feel like we were part of her family. Another woman walked in and we all ended up sitting together and sharing the food from all 3 menus.The food was out of this world! This is truly Brantfords hidden gem, and a must try for everyone. The best part of the evening? The conversation along with the amazing food that was shared between 4 strong women. We feel like we have made new friends for life and after all is said and done- provided us with a sense of community, and normalacy that we have not felt for a few years. Thank you Soulful Kafe for welcoming us. You have new customers for life! And we discovered that we really love Nigerian food!

Large food portions. Food was extremely good and the best wings in Brantford. The mac n cheese was also amazing, the jerk chicken sandwich was a perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Great customer service , great atmosphere. Recommended this place for anyone. Wish more people knew about this place

Ordered a large thin crust, half and half pizza this evening. Fresh toppings, good crust and real mozzarella. Highly recommend to give them try.

I was at the Caledonia food truck fest last night and tried the Jamaican sandwich, but instead of having it in a bun I asked for the toppings of the sandwich over rice. They were super accommodating and made it for me without question. It was delicious! It was crazy how much flavour the rice had. The pineapple salsa and sweet and sour onions was perfect over the jerk chicken which was super tender and packed with flavour. I can’t wait to go into the restaurant and order everything on the menu. 10/10 would highly recommend soulful kafe!

Food: 7/5. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would! The owner of the place Karen, and her chef, did an absolutely outstanding job with the menu. It’s creative, flavourful, modern, fun and delicious! No matter what we ordered, or what we decided to try, everything was good. I don’t have a single complaint about anything we had. Perfect amount of flavour and spice. Didn’t even need the salt and pepper they kept on the table. It was perfect. We usually don’t even eat that much but it was so good we couldn’t stop!Ambience: 4/5. Good music in the background. The patio is cute, quaint and had an element of privacy to it with the surrounding hedges along the perimeter. The Soulful Kafe sign is so cute, and I think the little details are what makes this place great!Cleanliness: 5/5. The staff in this establishment work hard to keep the chairs and tables sanitized and cleaned for all their guests. Had no complaints about cleanliness. Had no issues with the cleanliness of the cutlery and food too. Karen holds the place up to a high standard and I commend her for it! The bathrooms are still under Reno due to covid-19 when we were there so I will not be rating their bathroomsService: 7/5. We had a wonderful young server who was very attentive, sweet and kind. I wish I remembered her name, but she was great! Karen, the owner - I can’t say enough about her. It’s always wonderful to see the face behind the restaurant. She’s a genuine, hospitable, hardworking woman. You can tell just from meeting her why the food tastes as good as it does, she puts her heart and soul into it and you can taste it!I hope this encourages everyone apprehensive of trying this place to go try it!!!

My fiance and I bought macaroni and jerk chicken for 20$ at the orangeville mac & cheese fest. The food was cold. The chicken was uncooked and not even jerked. The chicken was a little rubbery and pink. We just had to throw it in the bin. I wanted to come up to her to get my money back but it wasnt worth stating my disappointment in front the other two customers, so we just left.

I spotted Soulful Kafe when doing a Google search for a place for my wife & me to eat when in Brantford on an errand. Having lived & worked in West Africa for a number of years and missing some of the food we enjoyed there, we were excited to discover this restaurant!We went early (around 5 pm), so ended up being the only dine-in customers for most of our meal. When looking at the menu, we concentrated on the one with Nigerian dishes on it. My wife opted for fried chicken with Jollof rice and I went with suya chicken and Jollof rice. We were sorely tempted by some of their other dishes too, but these will have to wait for another time!To put it simply, the food was absolutely delicious! It had just the right amount of spicy “kick” to it for our tastes. Be sure to let the cook know what level of spiciness you like or can tolerate and she can adjust it accordingly. The portions are quite large so you can be sure you will get your money’s worth! I had enough left over for another meal at home!Before we left, another customer came in and sat down. When the cook came to take his order, he asked what Jollof rice was. As she started to explain, I grabbed my leftover meal of suya chicken with Jollof rice and went over and showed it to him and told him how good it was. Within seconds, he decided that’s what he was going to have too.The service is warm and friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing, the seating is comfortable, the wait time is reasonable, the portions are ample, the food is delicious, and the prices are such that you have no trouble thinking that you are certainly getting your money’s worth here. We can hardly wait to find another excuse to go to Brantford so we can go eat here again! Highly recommended!

First time here, won’t be the last. As soon as the food came out it smelt so amazing we didn’t stop to take a proper photo. So below is our half demolished dishes. The layering of flavours and and big portions are everything Soulful food should be and MORE! If you’re in brantford, YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!We even stole food off of each others plates to try cause it just was that damn good.Seriously… you gotta eat here!For context: mac n cheese with Buffalo chicken, the Jamaican sandwich and the Jr Sandwich.

What a beautiful little gem! We stopped in here for lunch on our way through and it was an absolute pleasure! The service was top notch and so welcoming. I had the Jamaican Sandwich. This was one of the BEST sandwiches I've ever had! It was a straight trip to flavor town! I will be thinking about this sandwich for a very long time! Support this local business because it deserves some major props!!
