Suite Smart Shaughnessy

Odd email received from the owners of Suite Smart Shaughnessy just a few days before we were due to arrive telling us that due to an electrical problem the property we were supposed to be staying at was closed and they gave us another address to go to. After reading some rather worrying reviews about a possible scam and finding that the Vancouver Business Department didn't know of Suite Smart Shaughnessy and considered their website to be suspicious, we tried calling the three numbers they gave us in the email. The main number was permanently unobtainable and the other two personal numbers just went to voicemail. No return calls were ever received and subsequent emails were also not answered. All so dodgy and we couldn't risk turning up late at night on our first night in Vancouver to a strange address only to find it was a scam. We therefore booked an alternative hotel so at least we knew we had somewhere definite to stay. Two weeks on we still have heard nothing from these people so think we made the right choice to book elsewhere. If this was once a successful business then it no longer is and if the owners of this 'supposed' business are genuine then in our opinion based on our experience they have no idea of how to provide customer service and should be embarrassed and ashamed about letting people down.

I am so confused on the reviews. I stayed here so I could go to an appointment the next morning and this place was nice. The room and bathroom (heated toilet) was clean, the bed was nice, the roof patio was lovely and the breakfast was amazing. They have a pool I didn’t use. I don’t what happened a year ago but this year was great! BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE HOME SITE OR GET SCAMMED!

DO NOT BOOK HERE. The phone numbers are not in service and no one responds to emails. THIS IS A SCAM.We were notified of a change in booking at the last minute. The toll free number is not in service and the local number goes straight to voice mail.I have contacted booking.com to remove this company and will be contacting the proper authorities in British Columbia to ensure others do not experience the same thing and lose all of their money.

Just to clarify...when we arrived at this accommodation, it was empty of all furniture . It could not have been running as a bed and breakfast for some time from the condition of the place. We were not informed prior to our stay and were caught without accommodations. After following up with Expedia for a number of days, Expedia finally reimbursed us of our costs. The owner /manager of this location did not return any calls or emails. Do not book with them regardless of the story they are crafting in these reviews. Beware!

Scam, avoid at all costs. Once they get your number they will continue to message you even though you are not stressing there. Phone number is a sketchy inbox. Geo location is changing constantly.

The house was dark and the gate was locked when I arrived. I found the place through Booking.com and paid online. This may be a scam.

It’s a wonderful place to stay with gorgeous breakfasts, views and friendly hosts. Value is just great. You can easily reach downtown in 10 minutes but the area of the house is quite and surrounded by nature. I would definitely like to stay here again
