Great little historic place next to the aquarium to end our visit to Ucluelet/Torino. Even saw a seal lion here. Shop keeper was friendly and observative as she tried to have us rung up quickly so that we can meet the last passing for Kennedy lake before they close until 3pm. She even got our sweater no tax for my child without asking. That was great and unexpected service from a small place when we were at an official government site the day before who said they can’t do that at the Tofino info Center. Nice to end our day on a positive note as when battled the rain back to the Ferry to start our daily grind!

I don’t normally write reviews unless I have great things to say and pass on to others but I had such an awful experience with the owner of this store (Jan) tonight I can’t help it. I was really looking forward to buying a shirt for my mum as a surprise gift that I had seen 2 days ago and thought she would really like but was disappointed and confused when I found that the size I needed was priced $10 more!! then all the other shirts right besides it of exactly the same material, quality, cut and style and actually when I measured them up against each other they were almost the same size even (I just wanted the specific colour for her). The (friendly) girl working the store couldn’t figure out the reason either and said she would call her boss to ask why.I said I would speak with her (because there was other customers waiting behind me and the store was closing soon so I didn’t want to make them wait) the owners reaction was an immediate attack. I tried to explain I wasn’t trying to argue but was just confused about the price difference and was answered back with a rude attack and total lack of consideration that it was a legit question and that it doesn’t seem fair that someone needing a slightly larger size would be charged $10 more for the same product. Her only response was “why don’t you come back tomorrow when I’m in and I’ll argue with you then about it” and she hung up on me.I immediately put both shirts back saying there was no way I could buy anything from a woman that treated a customer that way. I left the store feeling upset and sad that my whole walk across town to get a gift for my mum had ended in such an unnecessary negative experience. I have shopped at this store before over the years but now knowing how the owner treats her customers I will never be going back.What a complete let down.

I’ve discovered all sorts of interesting items here over the years and they have a great selection of standard and unique souvenirs. Not many bargains and the customer service sometimes leaves something to be desired, but overall it’s my top recommendation for Ukee souvenir shops.Most recently visited during the pandemic and they’re also doing one of the better jobs with safety precautions. Masks required but available for sale if you don’t have one.

The owner is rude. I’m very unimpressed. I had a lot of souvenirs for family and then asked the girl in front where I might find gift bags and she showed me. (She was very nice) I quickly grabbed a gift bag and went back to the cashier and the owner was there this time and said “Are you done this time?”… Wow. Had I not spent time looking for gifts I would have just walked out! I spent over $200 too, and that’s the service I get.. won’t go there next time. That’s not how you treat customers!

Most items are over priced a few nice items for an affordable price. Really poor customer service. Very unwelcoming and unfriendly staff. They require masks when the staff are not wearing masks. No real common sense with that. Most items in this shop can be found at more hospitable shops

During my time living in Ukee I loved wandering through the Nest. Such an eclectic gathering of items. Always could find something fun. Great staff as well.
