First Memorial Funeral Services & Boal Chapel and Memorial Gardens

Just completed a session with Fredrick Margel. My wife and I were interested in making arrangements to make things easier for next of kin when we pass away. Fred was very patient and made us comfortable discussing details of goods and services involved in our passing. We never sensed any pressure and received friendly advice to all our questions. When we left we had a warm feeling that we had done something our children will much appreciate, some time down the road.

Best professional service and with excellent customer service teams, especially Baraka Zhou, made our all family feelings very touched!!!I will definitely recommend others about this so beautiful place ......

The team at First Memorial were incredible from Evelyn, to Jamie, to the groundskeeper, every detail even the tiniest of ones were thought of. Pastor Layton Chmelyk was someone I could listen to for hours and all the staff working the reception were friendly and accommodating to our guests. It was the toughest of times for my family but the service level provided by First Memorial made it so that we could beautifully share our memories and our love for my brother.

The staff at First Memorial are fabulous. The Memorial Services went off without a hitch. It was my first funeral there and I was facilitating for my mother who passed. Everyone that I did an amazing job and I owe it all to the staff who gently guided me and smoothed over any rough spots. The staff were so professional and caring. People left the services with wonderful memories of my mother. She lived and died with Grace and Dignity and that is we will all remember. Thank you. It meant the world to me!

Good afternoon, I have been dealing with Baraka Zhou for the past while with regard to the scattering of my Mum's ashes. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and very professional. I am greatly appreciative for his assistance and caring. He is an excellent representative of Boal Chapel. Thank you very much.

My husband passed away suddenly, unexpectedly. We had contacted First Memorial many years ago and made our end of life arrangements. When I had to make contact again to arrange my husband's interment, I could not have imagined how kind and helpful all of the staff would be. All of my husband's wishes were respected and I was treated with much kindness. They were there for us every step of the way.I was lucky enough to have Baraka as my guide through this process. He was patient and understanding, even when I was distraught. Carmen assisted in some of the processes and was also as kind as could be.The day of the service arrived and it was everything my husband was hoping for.I will always be glad we chose First Memorial. Thank you to everyone who worked with me and made this journey as special as I could ever have hoped.

We had nothing but an excellent experience when it came time to say goodbye to my stepdad at this location. The staff were helpful and kind and the venue for the service was great. It was handy to be able to hold the catered reception in the same building as the service. Everything went off without a hitch which we do so greatly appreciated.

I would give zero stars if possible!!!! Awful!!! I have never felt so dismissed and alone when trying to ask questions while trying to make arrangements regarding my brothers passing. The lack of compassion starting right from the first question I asked the receptionist followed by the same treatment from the director, made every second of my experience, dealing with this company horrible. Not one ounce of human kindness or compassion. I was made to feel stupid for asking questions and talked down to when asking about packages, urns, and cremation trays. All topics that are hard enough to have to discuss without having to be treated like my call was a waste of time and an inconvenience. When I did hang up, I called Hollyburn. I spoke to a man by the name of Angelo who was kind and caring. I feel it is important for you to know this because he may be your only saving grace in this business. During the call I did realize that both locations were under the same umbrella (company), so I did not go with either as there was no way I would be paying that much money to support a business that mistreated me that way. You have one job in this field, compassion!!! I was very lucky to have found another locally owned and operated business. One where I was made to feel like my questions were understood, where the loss I was experiencing was understood. Right from the first phone call, to the very last step of this whirlwind of a process, I was shown compassion and human kindness. I am very thankful for the company I went with. As for Dignity Memorial services, if you are going to use the word dignity in your title, you best understand the definition and emulate it.

The staff were very helpful in arranging the funeral details. We had to have our loved one transported to another city. First Memorial  were able to take care of all the details on this side of the funeral including air transport. We then worked with a local funeral home on the other side for the details in that city. This was much easier to arrange than I expected. Everyone was very helpful. The costs were clear and I felt fair. I will be using them again.
