VERY pleased to report that both the City of Prince George AND the Regional District of Fraser Fort George rejected WCO proposals in 2021. Publicly noted by a councillor was the inappropriate behaviour of Mr. James in stating that WCO did not have to do public consultation on their proposals. Also noted in public discussion tThis is the experience we have had with this company. Sadly this is not an ethical company. They have targeted my community with a multi plant proposal that will destroy it (fair notice, including my place of employment, the university) and have ONLY chosen to speak to those who support the project. Those of us who oppose a toxic community are dismissed as radical environmentalists. They have not once tried fair full engagement with those who do oppose the project. They have alienated the Indigenous Nations, who have said clearly, they do NOT want the plants on their unceded (open to land claim) territory. A petition on one plant in an adjacent rural area has passed 800 signatures against, with only 34 in favour. Facts that somehow get overlooked when they report community support for their proposal.

unethical!This company does not care about environment! It is planing to build a chemical plant right by residential area in Prince George! Many people bring up the air pollution issue and request them to relocated outside the bowl area. But they don’t care!They will supply raw plastic which is the main material for single plastic bag production to China and other Asian countries!

It is inconsideration to build a chemical plant that size right by the residential area.

West Coast Olefins is providing an extremely environmentally conscious project that will remove liquids from the existing natural gas stream before they're burned in thousands of burner tips across western Canada.Those liquids are removed and processed to make important petrochemical feedstocks, like ethylene and polyethylene. Those feedstocks allow the manufacture of thousands of products, from pacemakers to MRI machines, to eyeglasses, to clothing, to carpets to commercial aircraft.Yes, single-use plastics are a problem and they need to be dealt with globally but that discussion is irrelevant to this project. Most single-use plastic products (straws, utensils and consumer packaging) are made today in China, using ethylene derived from coal through an alternate, extremely dirty and energy intensive process.Let's show the world that western Canada, and Prince George in particular, can host a technologically cutting edge petrochemical facility that helps to reduce emissions domestically and worldwide.
