If you have No other choice but have to do business with Genroc for some reason, please make sure you get every single word in writing and an extremely detailed proposal. It needs to show the precise amount of materials, what they are and what they are charging you. You also need the exact number of labour hours they are charging you for. And do not expect the work to even begin until when they told you it would be finished.You also have to make sure that when they do get around to finishing the job you need to be available immediately and be in town to drive over to a run down area of town across from the railroad tracks to pay immediately in person or they will threaten you with legal costs, a 25% surcharge and a lien on your property.Here is what happened to me:I contacted Genroc on Monday March17 to get a small ceiling crack repaired. Claude looked at what needed to be done and told me they would have to replace all the drywall and texture the whole area because the drywall had been put in the wrong direction. I explained the house is for sale and we are putting off requests to view it until work is done so we need it done by end of the week. He said they could make that happen. He finally sent the proposal Thursday March20 and it was very vague, Repair Taping & Texture (Top Floor Stairwell & Hallway Ceiling Only), Labour & Material $2613.24. I asked why so much and he told me it was a very big job to replace all the drywall and would take 4 or 5 days. I signed and emailed it back immediately. He came late Friday afternoon to pick up the key saying I will contact you when the work is completed. So late afternoon Friday the work hasn't even started yet. On Sunday March 23 a small patch had been made in the ceiling (about 2 feet square). Next work was done (about 2 hrs each day) Wed - Friday March 26-28. I asked to get a new proposal, thinking it would be lower for no drywall and less than 8 hours labour. He responded with the original proposal followed by the Invoice for the same amount plus tax. I told him he must be a crook to charge the same amount and is that why they aren't members of the Better Business Bureau. I said I would mail a check for the full amount post dated (about 20 days, because they charge 2% on accounts over 30 days). They don't take credit cards or debit. On Monday March 31 early in the morning I get a threatening email from the owner Mike Yeoman saying if he did not receive full payment in his office by the very next day (second business day after work was completed) he would turn me over to his lawyers, register a lien against the property plus a 25% surcharge and legal fees. So I told him I would not mail the check but would bring a check for full payment that morning dated today, which I did. He even went and had the check certified that same day. I also told him I would have to warn people about him because of the extremely dishonest way they did business.I understand that this paranoid behaviour is probably due to tons of very angry clients and possible financial difficulties but this is no way to run a business.
