Rockcliffe Yacht Club

Great members here - had a mechanical issue with my boat on the water. Gary and Jerry were kind enough to go out of there way and assist.

The Rockcliffe Yacht Club is a non-profit Yacht club based on the south shore of the Ottawa River near the Ottawa/Rockcliffe Airport in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada north of the Canada Aviation Museum. It is a 100-member “private co-op” style club. The club originally was part of CFB Rockcliffe but changed to a private club in 1984. The club is centred on a concrete ramp originally used to launch RCAF sea planes. The ramp extends 50 feet (15 m) into the water as when the ramp was built, in the 1930s, the level of the Ottawa river was much lower. In 1964, a dam was put across the Ottawa River for the Carillon Generating Station which raised the water level by 9 feet (2.7 m). As a result, the Rockcliffe Yacht Club has one of the best launching ramps on the Ottawa river.

Great place to be a member or a transient. Everyone seems very welcoming and pleasant. Washrooms and showers available. Walking paths and beautiful views.

Great location for launching your boat in Ottawa. In the middle between Petrie Island and Downtown.

It was so beautiful to Launch our boat and be a part of this incredible Yacht Club again.

Today, I had my best Valentine's spontaneous day out here.Packed some homemade spaghetti and green tea and ended up here to enjoy the day. The quietness, beautiful scenery, and warm sun--all too great.Oh, what a lovely experience during mid of Feb.This is definitely one of my favourite spots to enjoy nature, hike, and have a little picnic.Great for snowshoeing, or skiing with sticks during winter season.Looking forward to spending more time here during summer.

Nice spot to stop on your bike ride along the Ottawa River. Sunsets are beautiful to be seen from this location.
