Bethany Harvest Hills

I have no idea why this facility is rated so low. I spent my two months practicum here and i have to say it's quite an impressive facility. The staff are very professional, kind and caring. They have lots of activities for the resident's to participate in and stay active. It's a great home specialized with caring for those with advanced dimentia and palliative care. I would recommend checking this place out to see for yourself before you judge this place by its ratings.

My 91 year old mother with advanced dementia moved to Bethany Harvest Hills a few weeks ago. I am very impressed with the place and the people who work there. Moving from a facility that felt like a hospital to Harvest Hills, that has the feel of a home, was a great decision. There are very frequent activities! The aids and nurses are very good with residents in general. Also, the facility was very effective in building a personalized care plan. Thanks, folks!!

I spent my nursing preceptorship here for 6 weeks and I only have good things to say about the nurses and staff of this facility especially in House 1 and 2. It has really been a pleasure working with amazing people who are all so dedicated and passionate with what they do. It is amazing to see how the staff work so hard to ensure quality care is given to each individual in this facility.Considering the ratio of staff to residents, I admit that it is inevitably busy most of the time in this facility but I have witnessed how the staff always try to give their best to the residents. I wish families could see how these amazing staff try to make sure residents are well taken care of. There are really staff who go over and above what they do.Shout out to Ma'am Grace who was my preceptor. She stands out not only because of her skills but because of her compassion towards the residents. She taught me a lot of things skill-wise, but she also made sure that I learn the importance of showing compassion and empathy towards the residents. She taught me and showed me what holistic care really is. She is very thorough and very detail-oriented. She could be strict and tough but that is because she wants to ensure quality care. Her dedication and commitment is unparalleled. She showed me what kind of nurse I would want to be in the future - someone who is knowledgeable, driven, passionate, caring and kind. She is so generous with her time, she may be busy but she makes sures she spends a little bit of her time with all the residents under her care. She's a good leader and she manages her house very well. The cleanliness in her house is always maintained because she makes sure things are always in their right places. Ma'am Grace is one amazing nurse but all of the nurses, HCAs and staff of Bethany Harvest hills are ALL equally amazing.(Big shout out to HCAs Nelly, Mina, Sipilika, Jigs and Katherine and to nurses Grace, Wemie, Emily, Amin, Mary, Josephine)

Well this is my 3rd attempt to write a review and be able to give a description of my experience without it being reviewed and rejected. So obviously I cannot go into detail because they feel it's to much information. It was also suggested to me by senior admin of Bethany's head office not to leave a review. I filed a complaint about resident treatment, unprofessional staff and poor nutrition and cleanliness of this facility. I spent 4-9 or more hours a day there , almost everyday for 5.5 months. The treatment to some residence was inhumane and absolutely horrible. My complaint has gone further because Bethany felt they are doing noting wrong and did not address the neglect and abuse. Our seniors and loved ones deserve better and it is up to us to make sure that happens. This is a horrible place and staff definitely needs more education on types of dementia and different personalities. They treat and schedule everyone like an object not a live, breathing person. Anyone that spends an hour here are there would think this place is ok... but it's not, I witnessed it first hand.

We had our 62 year old father, husband, grandfather, mentor in Harvest Hills for 3.5 months. Family and our private personal caregiver spent 6-8 hours a day, 7 days a week with him....thank goodness.Dementia residents are left unattended in common areas for 30-40 minutes. Not a staff member in sight, residents found on the floor from falls... if they are one of the residents not restrained.Residents get zero stimulation and are over medicated. Verbal threats to residents are unacceptable.Cleanliness is less than average.Staff underestimate what a kind word, a touch, a smile, a sympathetic listening ear or a compliment can mean to these dementia residents.With the amount of time we spent there we saw things dementia residents should never ever have to experience with Harvest Hills staff. Please do a close personal check on your loved ones if they are in this facility.

Well it may be true that some upper management struck some as uncaring perhaps it was a bad day or perhaps their job is mostly administrative and therefore their focus is different. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. My mother has been there for years and I count it a blessing. She is well cared for. Lets not forget that the work is difficult and takes everyone on board which doesn't always happen. Sure there have been concerns but they are quickly addressed. The farthest up I really speak with management is the care facilitator and she is great.

I want to share my experience as a student nurse, I spent 2 months doing my clinical in this longterm care. I do not have any experience in longterm care but my preceptor Grace goes above and beyond in teaching me everything she knows and making sure I understand the reason why we do things. She is very compassionate, kind and takes her job seriously. As a student nurse I am so lucky to have this kind of experience because it will help me on future practice.The staffs are super helpful and knowledgeable about the residents. Takes pride on what they are doing, always keeps the resident their top priority. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a second home for their loved ones, volunteer opportunities. The best place. All of the staffs, you guys rock. Thank you for the experience. I learned a lot.

Would never recommend this place because Of the director. zero compassion, grace, or concern. He has no professionalism whatsoever. If you claim to be a society that cares, then caring begins with the way you treat your people within that society. I would not recommend this place to anyone

My dad called this place home for about ten years. The care was very professional and he seemed happy there. Most Of the staff have been there for a long time so this alone shows that the management was top notch. They were also very supportive when it came his time. The facility has a real home feel and is bright and clean. I highly recommend.
