This is a unique, small-town shop. It boasts historical architecture and a great variety of art supplies and framing services. The prices are a bit high but you are getting high quality products. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

Always happy to visit this store. Nice selection of art supplies. Owner is very helpful if you have questions and willing to order a product for you which would arrive in several days time. They make hand made books which are lovely and also do framing.

I have been dealing with Tim at the Colour Jar for some time now in terms of book binding. He is unfailing courteous and his work is excellent. His prices too are very reasonable. Since I live at least two hours drive from The Colour Jar, I usually take photographs of the books that need repair, showing the areas that require work and ask for an estimate. Tim always responds promptly. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a bookbinder. Bob Rankin

This charming shop is one of my all-time favourite art stops. Located in an historic building, with many original features (wood floor, ultra-high ceiling, etc.), the tiny size manages to pack quite a punch, even with a significant portion at the back permanently host to the owners' book-binding and book-creating as well as the occasional class. There is a surprisingly wide variety of artist materials in many media, including oils, watercolour, acrylics, inks, pastels and pencils, and the brushes, sharpeners and other tools to be able to use them. There is an excellent selection of papers, too, from journals to sketchbooks, bound pads and loose sheets, including handmade papers and some nice chiyogami. There are books including instructional books as well as colouring for adults or children. There are beeswax crayons amongst other child-friendly items. A small selection of felting, crochet and knitting tools complements the curated collection of yarns. There was even wool roving available this week (which I was happy to pick up for more dryer balls!). I always enjoy a long browse here, getting creative inspiration from a place I see rarely, as it is not local for me. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. He'll gladly look up information, research a question or even special order anything not currently in stock. Altogether a great experience, with exemplary customer service. EDIT: Should mention they also restore historic records, for those with family books / bibles in need of rescue, and also provide professional framing services. Great place, and I'm always impressed!

Wonderful place; fantastic to have such an art hub so far from a big city.
