South Shore Lodge

At 77 years old I have fished Northwest Ontario for 62 years and will say my trip to SSL was the absolute best.The fishing,food and most friendly service are five star.Remote yet modern. Most highly recommended.

Great fishing and great food! If you want to get away from it all this is your place!

This is a fishing camp NOT a 5 star resort. I gave Peter and the gang a 5 star rating based on that fact. True their is no electric toaster(you do have stove top models)or microwave and the window sills after a 2 yr lock down could use a once over with a shop vac but although my cabin was old it was comfortable and all that one or two guys needed. South Shore is a fishing camp" and is billed as such. Their location is protected and secluded at about the Midway point on Eagle. Access to good fishing can be had no matter what the weather and you do not need to travel very far. I brought my own rig but they have a very nice fleet of (I believe Lund Outfitters) boats with 40 Yamahas which are more than adequate. If needed they do have GREAT free internet access available at and near the lodge. They will meet you at the access

Just had a great week there. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Had a couple minor boat problems that were taken care of quickly so no problem there. They were able to tell us where and how to catch some nice fish. Just note this is not a vacation recreation resort with a beach and stuff to do with the kids. It is a fishing lodge and it's in the middle of nowhere which is exactly what we wanted and it was great. Thanks again and I would definitely visit again.

Just got back a couple weeks ago from staying at South Shore Lodge. It was the best experiences I have had up in Canada. Peter and Colleen we both great hosts. The food was wonderful and healthy portions. To top it all off the fishing was great so close to the lodge. Didn’t even need to travel far to find good fish! Can’t wait to go back!

The cabin units are very small and dirty. No a/c, TV, toaster or even a microwave in the units. The worst part was there were bed bugs in our beds! Would not reccomend to anyone! Didnt even get a discount! Got charged full price.

The absolutely most helpful staff members I have ever encountered. Peter saved my stay several times. The food was very VERY good and plenty of it. Deserts to die for. We WILL be going back. This is a fishing camp and they concentrate on fishing and making guests feel comfy and at home. And while there one of the guests boated a 61 Inch Musky! Hey Peter where's the pic?

I just returned from a week of great fishing and relaxation at South Shore Lodge. Peter and Colleen are fantastic hosts, the food was great (do yourself a favor and go with the American Plan, you won’t regret it) and you’ll catch all the fish you want in the bay right in front of the lodge. If you’re looking for the best Ontario fishing lodge, look no further - South Shore Lodge is the place.

Great location on eagle lake. Awesome fishing. Food was great and they do not skimp on portions. Very friendly and helpful staff. They are working on improving facility after 2 years of covid. Will definitely be going back.

We were fortunate enough to visit and stay at South Shore for 6 days, where we had the experience of a lifetime.We purchased the American, and had an awesome experience. Enjoyed a great hot breakfast every morning, a prepared lunch for the boat, and a hot dinner. Colleen and staff made everything from scratch, and always socialized with us in preparation for the next days meal plans.Peter, and his staff made catching fish easy, they made sure the boats were fueled up, if you needed a good suggestion on a secret fishing spot they never disappointed. The guys even fillet the fish for $1 each, and packaged them for the road home.I’m hoping this can become an annual trip for my friends, and I. Even better to bring family along, the views are for everyone. We were able to see beaver, eagles, muskrat, and deer.Thank you for the perfect experience from the guy who had no plans to fish, but now wants a fishing boat lol.
