In my experience this shop did not stand behind their work. It took three tries to re-sole my boots. By the end they badly scratched the leather and the boots don’t look good at all.In between repairs the soles fell off while was on a backpacking trip so I had to buy new shoes and carry the old ones around for weeks. When I got back to Victoria and explained the situation they showed no understanding still billed me full price for the repair that should have been done in the first place (for some reason they didn’t replace the entire sole the first two times.)

I was looking to have a couple of pairs of shoes “lowered” and a new set of heels put on my favourite 25 year old shoes. It was recommended to me by a very reliable person, who deals in leather, to go to Stevenson’s Shoe Repair. I am extremely happy with the results. The professionalism and efficiency in which the shoes were completed was top notch. I would highly recommend their shoe services.

After 8 years in Victoria I've only ever gone to Stevenson's. A few months ago I brought my boots in to have them resoled. I gave them about $100 in cash and left. A couple of weeks ago I noticed the soles they put on were separating from the boots. I brought the boots back and they refused to repair them, claiming it wasn't their work (and accusing me of lying in suggesting it was). I explained that I'd never been anywhere else; it didn't matter. I also said that by questioning my integrity I would never return and could no longer recommend them (my reputation accompanies any recommendation). The answer was, Okay."I brought the boots to Arcadia Shoe Repair on Cook St. and in a few minutes he explained how they had installed the wrong sole (and why)

So, someone had recommended them to me. I had two really good pairs of shoes (from Germany) that I thought were worth fixing. They were pretty pricy and good quality, so I didn't want to throw them out. The customer service is definitely not the best, if you like someone friendly. I personally don't care much about that, because it's a shoe clinic, not a restaurant, but fixing the shoes was $100. Now, I don't know what new soles cost, but 100 seemed a bit much for one pair. The other pair just needed some glue. I was mostly unimpressed that they really didn't put any effort into it for that much money. They looked pretty dirty when I got them back and there was glue on the leather. Overall, I must say, if there's a cheaper and better alternative in Victoria, I'd be happy to know about it, as I do like my shoes, but that was definitely too much.

Extremely happy with the quality of work done. I had some Birkenstock's that needed repairing and wanted to weigh out the options to make them last longer without exceeding the cost of a new pair. Was happy with the information and variety of materials I could choose from.Only 4/5 stars however as I found the staff to be a little pushy and short with me. I would consider going back again though if I needed further shoe repairs.

Terrible customer service and service in general. I bought a pair of cushioned inner soles (wool and rubber), and they fell apart within a couple of wears, so I brought them back. They refused to take them back and said that they must have been worn for years.Ignoring this, because I thought their actual work was good, I had a pair of tall leather boots resoled with Vibram soles (because I'd worn through their previously replacement soles) before I moved to Europe, and now, after I've only been here for a week, the soles are coming away from my shoes. I have no real recourse in getting a refund for this shoddy job, as I'm not in the city anymore. I've been going to Stevenson's for years now, but even if I still lived in the city, I certainly wouldn't be coming back.

Will never ever go there again and would give them 0 stars if I could. Very rude, arrogant staff and expensive. I was getting a simple re-heeling done and they did fine on that but when I got home there was damage on the shoes that was NOT there when I brought them in. Tried to bring them in so they could at least try and fix them and was told that there was absolutely no way this would have happened here and that I clearly did not pay enough attention to my own shoes. I told her that as someone who takes VERY good care of my shoes and polish them myself I notice when new marks pop up. She just said the same thing over again not even trying to offer a possible solution. SO RUDE.

Horrible experience -- so bad that I went back to complain to the manager and found out that the person I had dealt with was both the manager and the owner.I went to get my shoes re-repaired. One of them had already been repaired by the shop, but had fallen apart shortly after the repair was done. First I was asked personal questions about what I used the shoes for (walking), then I was told that the shoes were inappropriate. The sales clerk seemed totally disinterested in repairing my shoes. When I asked if the store would stand behind it's workmanship, I was told that I caused the repair to fall apart. At this point I left the shop and told the person that I would not be returning. He shouted across the shop Don't shoot the messenger sweetheart!"When I went to another shoe repair shop

Brought in a shoe that another repair shop told me was impossible to fix (something to do with the interior support wall). Staff was polite and said they could fix the shoes but it would cost about $80 and the shoes looked like they might be similar value. They were right, for me the repair would not be worth it. I appreciated their honest assessment, giving me a chance to make a decision in my best financial interest, without them pushing for the sale.

I contacted Dennis at Stevenson's about resoling my Blundstone boots. Within a week the boots were returned to me by mail and the resoling on the boots is perfect. I am delighted and highly recommend this business for all your shoe needs. Happy on Gabriola Island!
