Rica Cafe
Family owned cafe that came from South Africa with unique South Afician coffee! Too bad we are in the middle of a winter lockdown, otherwise, we would have tried their patio for sure. So for now, takeouts would do. Brunches were nice and tarts were tasty as well. We may have ourselves a new local coffee spot now!

i visited Rica Cafe and ordered a large iced latte. the latte took 15-20 minutes to arrive. they ended up accidentally made a hot latte instead so i let the barista know that i actually ordered an iced latte. i thought she would just make me a new iced latte but instead she got a cup of ice and scooped up a layer of espresso" and put it in the cup of iced milk. that makes no sense since the original espresso shot has already been mixed with milk. why wouldn't you make a new espresso shot when you were the one who mixed up the order? i just took the order and did not complain again. but my iced latte had no coffee since she just scooped the "espresso" from one cup to another. she was also rude about it even though they were the one to mix up the orders. will not be going back or recommending to anyone."

Clean cosy eatery with friendly staffs. Large Pineapple bun with butter, south African coffee is our favorite.A kind heart from the owner that we should learn.God bless.

First of all, the unit number that the restaurant put was wrong. It took us forever to find it. Food takes forever to make. I’m still waiting for my food and I ordered my food 30minutes ago. The lemon tea and the milk tea are probably one of the worst I have had. Probably won’t come back here again.

Rica Cafe has amazing egg tarts. They have the best crispy pastry texture I have ever tasted in GTA. They are quite small, so you can have two. Their coffee is made with South African coffee beans and has a good flavor. The big breakfast they offer is average, nothing special, but I like that it comes with avocado and mushrooms. It's good for sharing between two people. I opted for the sugar-free version of the Shunde double skin milk, and it was okay.

I love the little details of this place. Like their tea service is full on, with the big teapot and cups with proper spoons and dishes.Normally come here for the tarts which are soooooo good. But today they had a promotion so I tried their breakfast. Look at the bacon, thick and smoky! The mushrooms are salty and deliciousRica cafe is so cute :)Edit: tried their dim sum breakfast. The lava custard bun is a MUST HAVE.

Went with my parents to this cozy little cafe in King Square shopping centre. We ordered Portuguese egg tart, HK milk puddings and a very berries smoothie, they are all freshly made and tasted delicious. The owner Irene is very nice and friendly lady.Ps. don't forget to check out and buy some wall hangings that were made by students from a local registered charity school which support developmental disabilities students.

NOT RECOMMENDEDOverall ⭐️/5Environment ⭐️⭐️/5Service ⭐️/5Food ⭐️/5South African restaurant locating at King Square Shopping Centre. The mall itself is very quiet, not much stores were occupied and most were closed during day time. The restaurant isn’t easy to find, it was all the way at the corner.Only four tables: one 6-people table, two 2-people table, and one 1-person table. Three staff in total including server and chef, you can imagine the speed of service would be delay due to short staffed. We waited 10 minutes to be seated, 15 minute for drinks (came every 5 minutes lol), and MORE THAN AN HOUR FOR FOOD!!!Drinks: we ordered milk tea and lemon tea, the flavour is very mild. Each drinks take 5 minutes to arrive, even tho for the same drink…not sure if it’s South African tea leaf but the flavour/taste/fragrance were quite disappointing…Food: we ordered two curry dishes, one steamed pork ribs, and one beef dish. The food LITERALLY TAKE OVER AN HOUR TO COME. And the food quality isn’t great at all!!! That’s why we got so disappointed. The meat had frozen taste into it, not fresh, and I saw them microwaving food, didn’t see them pan fry my beef. Food portion was very small as well.Overall, not a very pleasant experience so I do not recommend at all.

5 stars for the Portuguese tarts. It was fresh out of the oven and absolutely delicious. The tart is not super sweet and the taste is just right. My picky eaters ate 2 each. We waited for a long time (around an hour) but we were walking around and eating elsewhere in the food court, so it was fine. Plus, they warned us ahead of time. If you are not a fan of waiting, better call ahead before you go.

January 2022 3.5★ updated to review their Portuguese (maybe Macau) style tarts. Freshly baked, the shell was flaky, but the egg custard portions were little. Flavors are ok though not as sweet as real Portuguese tarts.September 2021 3.5★ located in a deserted mall, this place is a nice stop. It's currently the only café that's in the mall. Decently sized, a few tables for eat in and a very nice patio outside. Here, you'll find a mix match of foods but their specialty is African coffee and bakery goods like tarts and sandwiches. In the mix, they have egg waffles and other foods like steamed egg and herbal jelly. The herbal jelly is pretty decent. The coffee is unique. Personally, this would be a nice cozy hang out spot.
