For our two-storey house, we wanted to update the look on both sets of stairs. The lower stairs to the basement were unfinished, and previously were carpeted. The upper stairs had oak treads underneath the carpet, but they had (unsightly) oak plugs on each tread where the original balusters were connected. We decided to cap both sets of stairs with new oak treads, and change the handrail and posts for the upper stairs to freshen and modernize the look.My first point of contact with JC Stairs & Railings was with Cassandra. She is very professional and pleasant to deal with, and provided answers to my questions, examples (pictures) of Juan's work, and a detailed quotation for the work. Juan also came to our house (prior to us confirming the contract), and discussed options (oak post design, metal balusters, handrail routing) with us.Juan and his assistant Alexis both work extremely hard with attention to detail and quality in mind. It's obvious that Juan takes pride in his work. They also protected all the flooring (both tile and hardwood) around each stairs, and put up plastic sheeting barriers around doorways to minimize the dust to other parts of the house. Juan also showed us two stain samples to choose from prior to finishing the new treads.Take-aways:The fit and look of the new caps is excellent. The square nosing looks cleaner and more modern than what we had before (i.e. colonial style).The stairs/handrail/post stain matches our new hardwood flooring better than we expected. We were under the impression from talking to other contractors that it would be difficult to match, but Juan did a superb job.The overall quality of workmanship is excellent. Post/baluster/handrail installation is solid.(Previous) squeaking on the lower (top) stairs is virtually gone.The nosing and transitions are professionally done and look amazing. Juan fixed the bathroom/hallway transition for us and did an amazing job.Hardwood installation on upstairs landing is excellentWe are very happy with our new stairs and would call Juan back in the future. I would also like to comment that Juan and Alexis were a pleasure to have come and work on our home. My wife and I were both very comfortable having them in our house.Thank you Juan.

I would just like to take this time to thank JC Railing for such an amazing job refinishing our stairs and replacing the hand rail with spindles in our 50 year old home. They did a great job matching the stain colour of our existing hardwood. The time spent in preparing and covering everything up to avoid the sanding dust was a true definition of professionalism.
