We have used this business twice and are very satisfied. The first time Stu installed our new hard wired smoke detectors, replacing the old ones that were more than 10 years old and located too high for us deal with.The second time they installed a new storm door on the front door and did a great job!

Stu has done numerous projects and repairs for us including redoing the insulation and drywall/finishing our garage, priming and painting it. Other projects include beam rot repair, roof repair, venting bathroom fans that were originally vented to the attic (a prior owners diy issue we uncovered), installing a bathroom door/ replacing a barn door set up, deck repair, etc. Stu shares his local recommendations for other vendors such as electricians and plumbers which has been invaluable to us. His level of honesty and integrity is rare. Don’t hesitate to hire him if you are lucky enough to get the opportunity.

Sound Choice Handyman Services does it all and does it professionally, ethically, to perfection and on time. I'm a resident and board member of a 12 building/24 unit condominium complex that is managed by the owners, not a third party. Our board, many residents and I have all used Sound's services now for over two years on a fairly steady basis.Stu Clark, the owner, is very responsive to calls for estimates, needed repairs and emergent repairs. He truly cares about the owners wishes and needs and is straight forward about problems, recommendations and costs. Stu is a reputable business person. If he or one of his employees has made a mistake, broken something in the process of repairing others or needs to do additional work, not previous known, he will make it right and will inform you of the details expeditiously .As a conservative estimate, Sound Choice has performed well over 100 separate and varied repairs to our buildings during the noted period. This includes major repairs to second story deck structures, railings, walls, gables, roofs, doors, floors, windows, vents, ceilings, drywall, moisture barriers, stairs and trim. When the work is done, the area is left cleaner than when he arrived. Importantly, he tries when possible to source his materials locally so as to support other members of his community.While Stu is extremely knowledgeable, he often consults with other professionals like structural engineers, specialists in a particular field or other contractors to be sure the job is done correctly and to code. Stu will also tell you if he is not qualified for a particular repair and will recommend other qualified professionals if necessary.Stu is also a U.S. Navy veteran which can be seen in his ethical and straight forward conduct, 'can do' attitude and business practices. The fact that Stu is a veteran played heavily into our decision to hire him as we live near one of the largest, most well respected, naval air stations in the county and are, therefore, acutely aware of the high caliber of personnel serving in our armed forces.

Our experience with Stu at Sound Choice was fantastic. He was a consummate professional throughout and we would highly recommend him for anyone considering their own renovation project.Our project was challenging because we live in a 110 year old house with many unique issues. Our remodel included a full bath, new powder sink, and laundry room. We also replaced our old solar water heater with a new tankless model. Project details:Custom-restored antique fixtures including a 160 year old copper tub with oak railing200 year old jam cupboard converted to a vanity with a custom Danby marble countertop with a nickel sink and faucet fixtureStu completed the renovation with perfectly executed wood walls, ceiling, and crown molding in a house that is not square nor plumb (a feat in and of itself). The previous remodel had been terrible with joists being cut, rafters being cut, knob and tube being spliced with new electrical. Stu expertly resolved every issue to code and executed our detailed design vision for each space.He chose excellent subcontractors and smoothly coordinated their schedules so their time on the project was very efficient, maximizing our renovation funds.After power and gas were restored, through no fault of the subcontractors, our furnace wouldn’t start. Stu contacted multiple furnace maintenance companies on our behalf and attempted to schedule a service. The first company said it would be a week before they could have a technician out. Stu kept trying with other furnace maintenance companies until he was able to find one having same-day service. He really went the extra mile to keep our family comfortable even though it was outside his scope of work.He engaged us directly on each of the many design decisions that came up. He communicated the issues clearly and worked with us to find the best way forward. This collaborative interaction helped create wonderful new spaces in our home which are beautifully customized for our needs.His clear and concise invoicing came in securely through email, facilitating good record-keeping on our end.He did everything by the book: he posted the required permit right away, communicated with the right stakeholders, and passed each inspection on his first try. He dealt with potential asbestos when it was found (he had it tested and it came back negative in 24 hours so there were no delays for the project).His job site was thoroughly cleaned every day. He put down floor protection throughout the house. His team avoided trampling any of the plants in our garden. The whole crew was very careful and respectful of our home and property.Overall we couldn’t be happier with the service and craftsmanship we received from Stu at Sound Choice. We are already planning the next project we hope to do with him. This world needs more contractors with the work ethic and integrity of Stu.
