Best Western Colonel Butler Inn

We recently stayed here on a trip to the Niagara Wine region. The hotel is in a great location - on the edge of town and very close to the wineries. It was a short walk to restaurants in the downtown area. The rooms are small, but up to date and clean. The breakfast was not great - but it was free. We went across the street to Hortons. Our issue with the 3 stars for service was the construction being done at the hotel. They were getting a new roof while we were there. Delivery of the shingles before 8 am was a surprise - also, the truck delivering the shingles completely blocked the entrance/exit for over 30 min - more like 45 min. So if you needed out - too bad! Fortunately this did not impact our plans, but really.. not telling guests about this is not great service. And guess what - it happened the following day too.. I heard the truck pulling in and quickly moved it to a spot in front of the building so we would not be locked in. If we had been locked in, it would have significantly changed our travel plans. I would stay here again as it was clean and served our needs, but will be asking about construction plans.

I wish I could give them 5 stars. Actually, I was going to when made a reservation by phone. Repeated three times that we are bringing a dog with us, please reserve a dog-friendly room. And was told no worries, we have a room just like that for you. So I booked it - only to receive an email nexty day from a manager that dog-friendly rooms are not available. There is no way I can recommend this hotel after this slip.

Construction! Construction noise. I had mentioned during reservation that I wanted a quiet stay. Nobody said anything at all to me about the ongoing major construction! I first found our upon check in from a small paper posted near the front desk regarding it. Too late --after you have already booked and travelled from afar to the hotel.I'm not sure why this hotel is open during construction. It's actually a decent and clean little hotel/Inn. Unfortunately the renovations of all the washrooms in the hotel have made it an unpleasant stay. There were only a few guests in the hotel when I stayed here recently. They have renovated 9 washrooms to date and are completing them all. GOOD MORNING you will be up and awake from the construction noise that starts at 7:57 am sharp whether you want a quiet morning rising late on a vacation or not. Best Western needs to close this down and do the washrooms all at once, then reopen rather than inconvenience and annoy guests. Or simply mention upon reservation that there is ongoing construction throughout the hotel. I would not have stayed here had I known about the ongoing construction--it is simply unfair to guests to not mention this fact upon booking the hotel.

Convenient location to a job I did. Bed is comfortable, staff is friendly. The only thing I was not happy was with the tv. Not HD not great stations.

Nice room and very friendly and attentive staff, especially in the breakfast room. A very enjoyable stay overall.

I stayed here for two nights and the room was great. Everything was clean, comfortable beds, spacious, and I got welcome cookies! I will say this hotel needs work... the fitness centre was closed, breakfast waffles weren't fully cooked, and it could for sure use a coat of paint. Overall, it was a nice stay and the location only a short walk to get coffee or dine at a restaurant. The gift shops were about a 15min walk.

Fantastic hotel and a great location, the rooms were clean and fresh and all the staff were amazing especially the older lady in the breakfast room.Easy walk from the hotel to the town centre.We cannot wait to come back and stay again

My wife and I stayed for the weekend celebrating our anniversary and the accomodations were excellent. Very clean and exectional service at reception - both friendly and helpful. The complimentary enhanced continental breakfast was exceptional as was the attendant in charge. Pizza next door at the Butler's Bar & Grill was the best I have ever had!

Nice quiet, boutique hotel. Clean spacious well appointed rooms. A few blocks from most shops and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff.

There were room renovations going on (drilling, noises, drop cloths in the halls). We weren't even advised of this when we checked in...When workers left for the day, stairwells were not always vacuumed properly.Attitude of the manager was also surprising: when asked why we were not warned of the renovations, there was no sorry for the inconvenience" or other show of empathy. Simply a "it's standard policy that we don't reach out to customers"."
