It’s hard to start a bakery in the same place as one that was famous and well-loved. I commend the owners for trying to resurrect Enfield’s, but after visiting Village Green Bakery this summer, I’m definitely disappointed. The selection was lack-lustre, it was hard to tell when they’d be open, and the baked goods were unremarkable. The prices make sense for the area, but I think I’ll be packing my own cookies and pecan loaf the next time I visit Victoria Beach.

Victoria Beach is spoiled that they have this bakery! Don't get there very often but we make sure to visit the couple of times per summer we're in VB.

Building a bakery to health code standards in 6 weeks, learning the tricks of a bakery, teaching new local young staff how to bake and treat customers all while providing excellent products… Jen and staff smashed it out of the beach!!! Congrats to all. I have loved everything tasted so far and appreciate the freshness of your products!! Excited for next year!!

Work in progress. Face cookies need some attention, they tasted heavy on the molasses and otherwise a bit tasteless. Line up starts 15 min before opening, you wait 20-30 minutes to get in and then all the cinnamon buns are gone. Wish it was open earlier for coffee. Prices are high but that’s to be expected. Lots of tradition yet to live up to, happy the bakery is open though. Friendly staff. Will review again next year.

You can see (and taste!) that this is a labour of love. We’ve all loved that every day is a surprise, as the bakers test new recipes and find what works. Everything we’ve tried has been that “half step” above a certain other bakery that used to be in the area… it’s all recognizable, but everything from Village Green is just that little bit more spiced, more creamy, more complex, and more delicious! Watching their journey this first summer has been amazing, they’ve gone above and beyond for this community, and we’re so lucky to have them.

I like many, I had grown up with the previous bakery, big shoes to fill for sure. Totally did not know the ownership change before traveling out for the day. I completely understand they are trying to get into the flow of things and will not be comfortable for quite a while. There is a lot i don't remember with some goods but from what i do remember it is definitely different, but it will be no matter what.-As for the fabled white irish loaf, the most important: I am not sure if that batch did not rise properly before baking but it was really dense (smaller loaf but also heavier, much less plush). The bottom was compact as a result. Bread making is a fine food chemistry for sure.-The dreams are iced different but still taste like a dream (imperial cookie, probably slightly less sugar with the new).-From what i remember there were more danish options but the one kept was the cherry lemon, seemed to morph more to a heavier sweet roll from the lighter danish. Not sure how it is run now but keep at it!

We ordered a cake from Jen for my mother’s birthday and it was a hit!! Everyone loved it - the chocolate cake was the perfect density and paired well with the cookies and cream icing. Highly recommend for all your summer birthdays

Cinnamon buns were very good we had both pecan and gooey I think it’s called. The imperial cookies were good as well, was soft and fresh. Bread was pretty good too, I liked that it wasn’t full of holes like some breads of the same style can be.

Such a great variety. I didn't know I liked sausage rolls until I had ones from here. I've gone back every day we've been here to get more! I'm definitely going to miss these when we leave.
