They get 5 stars for the excellent, polite, and respectful service my wife and I received from them when we got our wills updated. And as we are 'seniors' and originally started started with Age and Opportunity Inc., the price for our legal services was very reasonable.

Mike Stienstra was my lawyer threw legal aid. I needed help getting full custody of my children. He was professional, helped answer any questions or concerns I had and was quick to connect with me threw the whole thing. I would be happy to have him represent me if needed in the future

I have been dealing with this firm and Darren Singbeil in particular for quite sometime. I have brought both business and personal matters to Darren which he has handled with great attention to detail and with a fair price. He always keeps me informed and is very quick to respond to emails and phone calls. I highly recommend him and the firm.

I used this firm for a family court matter and Michael and his team were simply outstanding from start to finish. They made the process so easy and it was very quick. As soon as a deadline came up, the next set of documents were already done up and ready to go. I would definitely recommend Michael and would use his service again in the future if needed. I never thought I would Be writing a bad review about someone but I’m hoping others will learn from my experience.Do not use Kelly Hjorth for any legalMatters ever. Once he has Your money he will sit on his butt and do nothing. He avoids calls constantly and does not reply to emails. If he would Do half of the things he says he wouldDo I would be a happy client. Dealing with him has put a sour taste in my mouth in regards to dealing with lawyers. Had I looked on the website and read the reviews ahead of time I would Not have used this firm. Very disappointed !!!

Ive dealt with Michael for both personal and business matters and have only had the best experience and outcome. Dedicated, smart and reasonable with a great location that easy to get to in EK. His staff is amazing also!

Over the last two years, I used the services of this firm to handle a personal matter. The partner and staff made my life journey bearable by providing the support, honestly and guidance that I needed, when I needed it.They were efficient and timely, updating me as necessary. Delays in finalizing my situation were outside of their control.I never felt like I was merely a paycheque, nor that time/money were being wasted to generate a padded pocket. I would highly recommend the services of this fantastic team. I would not say the same for the opposing counsel.

I'm amending this review because I thought I was unfair to this firm. I am revising the recommendation from 2 to 3.5 stars.My reason for this is largely due to the experience that I've had since becoming a POA. This firm did provide their legal services for a reasonable cost, but I should have been smarter about asking questions, gathering resources (that are free from the Province of MB websites), and talking with social workers, doctors and others that were attending to my loved one.Talking with your loved one, reading up the documents about POA's put out by the Province (and the one on caregivers, too), should be your first work into this matter.Also, keep in touch with the social worker and/or doctor(s) attending to your loved one. If there are signs that your loved one's abilities have been impaired, try to determine when or if a POA will be needed.Again, a good lawyer will help you navigate and consider these problems. My fault was that I did not really ask for this, at the beginning.My original review has been left, (see below), but BSS LLP is as good a firm as any to get a POA. Just remember: If this is your first time, get a lot of help from your lawyer, ask questions (even if it costs you some more money) and ensure that you are as well educated as you can be, at the moment, to take on this monumental, stressful and sometimes unpredictable task of looking after your loved one.Used this firm's services to get a power of attorney, as they were recommended by Age & Opportunity. I was told by the agent at Age & Opportunity that they were one of the more inexpensive firms doing POAs.I had no problem with the timeline in getting the POA, however, the cost came in more than promised, as they tacked on administrative fees and photocopying, (which is odd, since I was only give 1 copy). The lawyer seemed to be inexperienced, and never offered much in the way of advice on how to use a POA when approaching various institutions that my loved one used to deal with. Neither did they talk about the potential issues to be aware of. I managed to speak with the lawyer only when I was ready to pay and it was only then that they met with me. However, I had to pose most of the questions.I was upset at the choice of attorneys, and the lawyer told me I should have spoken with my loved one earlier on the matter. The lawyer made it seem like I ought to have known and should have acted accordingly.(NOTE: Loved one cannot properly communicate, hence the reason for a POA. Also, knowing that I should have talked to them in advance would have been extremely helpful.)Finally, the lawyer said they would not release any documents until paid. Again, this would have been nice to know at the very start.I rate this firm with two stars. If you want a cheap POA done and are aware of how and when to employ it, then BSS LLP is passable. If you are new to all of this, find a good firm, pay a little more, and get the advice you need to proceed. Given my experience with this firm, I would be hard pressed to use them for any other matter.

The worst lawyer ever. He showed up for a TRIAL completely unprepared in hopes of getting an adjournment. Never returned phone calls or emails. Cost me over 150k and a relationship with my daughter. Made promises and never even came close to making good on any of them. I filed a complaint with the bar and hope you will do the same. Get this crook banned from practicing law for good.

Michael Steinstra was the lawyer we used when we moved. He acted in a professional manner and handled the transactions (selling our old house and the purchase of our new one) promptly and provided excellent service to us.
